In the game, there's a terminal listing the names of of people in the cells. The one in Fawkes' cell was a woman's name.
Secondly, the dude who voiced the supermutants kept talking about it in an interview citing the variety of characters he voiced. Of course, this amazing variety didn't make him voice Fawkes any different from the others.
