I have SF4 and its alright. You can dash a bit but I don't know about rolling. Supposedly it's not as advanced as SF3 but I never really played SF3. I got a bit frustrated with the game cause it was so hard to perform some moves on the controller mostly the stick being the main problem and how they designed the moves. At one point I thought about getting an arcade stick but they are sold out until the end of time and I lost interest anyways.
I played on the xbox though, poopsycth.

I added you ww.
SF4 is more complex than SF3 besides the removal of specialty blocks such as parries. Unlike Fallout 3 and other fucking garbage sequels, they added additional material to fill the gaps and complicate the gameplay. You can still dash by double tapping a directional button with variable effect based on your character, you can use EX and Focus attacks with variable effects based on character/move used (For instance, there are three levels of focus attack per character and each EX attack has different effects such as my favorite, the EX running bear grab lets you soak one hit before it ends, so even if some ass fireballs you while you're cruising in you still mandingo them) and of course the ultra combos.
All in all, the game plays quite a bit more like SSF2 Championship with stupid lots of extra moves and techniques than it does like SF3 third strike. I can't explain, I'm busy playing.
I wouldn't get the game unless you're willing to learn to play. It's harder than fallout 3.

Yeah that thing about oblivion 2 was a joke. I've been playing since SF2 and I find the advanced techniques refreshingly difficult to master. I'm still working on all the aspects of my game.
I was psyched to see Able played. Interestingly enough, I played a guy who's got an able game a lot like yours directly before we started fighting, it was cool because I lost like 50 bp to him, but were I to fight him after we went ten rounds I bet I could take him down. I love playing all types of people with all types of fighting styles. Hey, about the shotos, try to bait them into jump kicking by duck blocking and punish (or able's anti air grab) and/or bait them into a dragon punch and punish. Those two are my anti scrubbo bread and butter.

I dunno. 25 is quite a bit for something that's in an entirely new engine. Would I have rather gotten different characters than what was put in? Sure. I've yet to see ANYONE play Rufus online and a number of characters are so rare that I think their slots would be better replaced with someone else. But, I still think 25 is a pretty healthy number of characters. Luckily, Capcom has a habit of milking street fighter as a huge cash cow and with succesful sales, they'll release some sort of championship-esque edition with probably 4 or 5 new characters. I know they're already talking about adding back in T. Hawk and Dee Jay....yay.

Been thinking about picking this up, but it's been awhile since I've done fighting games at all close to "seriously". Mostly it's just screwing around in whatever fighting game is being played by people I know, with my getting my itch scratched by stuff like Ninja Gaiden, DMC, and God Hand.
Does it play like Street Fighter 2, but vamped up? Good balance? Bison (dictator) play more like SF2/MvC than Alpha version (never liked the Alpha one)?

I hadn't seen the roster, so I was guessing that, because of the new engine, yes, things would have been cut back. Just to clarify, Walt.
25 is good. Not amazing, but definitely not too shabby. It's just that I associate street fighter most with a massive variety of different characters with different playing styles...
What was the count up to in the last Alpha? 50? 65?
Either way, the diversity presented was truly something to behold.

Alot of people say that this is the most balanced street fighter yet. I dunno if it's SUPER balanced, but even with the worst tiered character, you stand about a 62% chance against the best, which isn't too bad considering in SF3 it was like....6%?Good balance?
Never been a big Bison player, but I know he's one of the higher tiered characters. Take that as you will. No idea on moves as again, I never really used him as a character.
The only real significant problem with the engine and the way they did it is that the game feels like Street Fighter 2.5 with new graphics than a real leap in the series. It has all the cast of street fighter 2 (And from super street fighter edition is only missing Dee Jay and T. Hawk) plus 4 additional new characters, half of which I could have done without. There's some other minor problems with the engine and I still think it'd have been better as a 2d game, but whatever makes the kiddies happy and allows more street fighter.because of the new engine
Just for comparisons sake25 is good
- the first Street Fighter had 2 selectable characters that were just pallete swaps.
- the first Street Fighter II had 8 characters since none of the bosses were selectable.
- the first Street Fighter Alpha had 13 characters.
- the first Street Fighter 3 had 12 characters, two of which were pallete swaps of each other and weren't differentiated until 2nd Impact.
For the first ineration of SFIV, 25 is a massive amount. Street Fighter Alpha 3 had the most characters of any version and for the home console edition had 33 (Except on the PSP where it had 37). Again, 25 is a good number, just wish they had different characters than just rehashing the entire SF2 cast, I'd have liked to see some more alpha and street fighter 3 characters, some of which are even in the fucking intro animations. If they add 4 or 5 characters to the next edition (Hopefully not counting pallete swaps) it'd be the 2nd most populated Street Fighter.
