The pay is good. + $400 extra pr. day as risk payment. Pay 24 hours a day, two weeks on two weeks off with pay. Cant complain.

We did do a "Omg! Man overboard!!" drill, but it went horribly slow, and I can only blame the terribly relaxed italian safety crew. They need some ordnung and strong officers, because you cannot trust the philipinos and malaysians of doing shit exept saving their own skin in an emergency. Im glad I was safely in the cantina eating carbonara and having a smoke in the polish tv room. Gotta love the poles DEMANDING to be allowed to smoke while watching tv.

I would encourage people to try getting a job on a rig if you are western. Pay is good, food is good, and plenty of time off every two weeks. If you are asian you work for 1/5 of the pay, and you are offshore for five months before you get a month off.

I do what has to be done.

I am the fascist pig keeping the philipinos and malays' sober and in working robotic order. They are usually uneducated and need a kick up the ass to start working. But they are nice guys in every other way.

And usually its chopper or "taxiboat" aka regular boat to the rig. Rigs do sail around quite a big, but it depends on the function of the rig. Saipem 7k is a crane rig, so it is needed all over the place. Brazil, italy, north sea or on lease to the americanos.

Ask what your company/employer can do for you. Getting the certifications to go off-shore is to expensive if you pay it on your own if you ask me.

An assload by fuckwith standards. Cannot say for a german, but I would imagine around 30 to 50,000 pounds a year pluss all the extra shit like bonuses and double pay during holidays and night time shifts etc.

The safety yada yada shit you have to take might cost 2,000 pounds though, so its better to find an employer who is willing to pay some if not all of it. And there is only about 50 years of mindless drilling left, so might as well earn money while you have the opportunity.
