The Books thread.
@Atoga: We is spectacular. Possibly the best part though is how different his name is depending on the publisher and printing date. Also very jealous of your first edition Clockwork.
I just finished The Road, finally got around to reading it. I liked it. It was good without being exceptional. Worth reading for sure, if anyone here still hasn't picked it up. Next up is The Valley-Westside War, I think. It's YA but it sounds interesting.

The Gunslinger is at least minimally Fallouty.
I don't care too much for King, except for his creepy old dust jacket pictures.
Also The Stand.
I tried reading The Stand, then I got distracted rereading Dune or something and abandoned the project. That was like eight or so years ago.

I'm marginally interested in this one. Isn't like 75% of the book the original Jane Austen with like 25% zombie material juxtaposed?Mismatch wrote:Bought this one today, to read during my upcoming vacation:
See even with that I don't think I can be fucked to read that much Jane Austen.
Reading Black Hawk Down ATM, pretty graphic and brutal, but at the same time draaaaaggy. It's not that long, and lots of action, but so much so fighting turns really monotonous.
Fuck I hate finishing books just for the sake of finishing them. I could've watched the movie in 2 hours and moved on with my life.

Valley-West Side was meh. Nothing spectacular to report. The City and the Stars, however, so far is excellent.

It's not a difficult read, it goes very, very quickly. I finished it in maybe a week, week and a half, only reading for a little bit at lunch when I had time.
