Mamma's Ship Zeta Release

Post by POOPERSCOOPER »

[ Game -> Update ]

Today you can download the final DLC for FO3 from Xbox Live or Games for Windows. Here is a brief description of the download from BluesNews which quoted it from Major Nelson;

A strange Alien signal is
being broadcast throughout the Capital Wasteland, originating from a crashed
UFO. Is it a distress call, or something far more sinister? That question is
answered when you find yourself beamed aboard an enormous Alien spacecraft, with
only one alternative – to fight your way to the bridge of the ship and secure
your escape. Mothership Zeta takes Fallout 3 in an entirely new direction –
outer space. Meet new characters and join with them in a desperate bid to escape
the Aliens’ clutches. To do so, you’ll wield powerful new weapons, like the
Alien Atomizer, Alien Disintegrator and Drone Cannon, and deck yourself out in
brand new outfits, like the Gemini-Era Spacesuit and even Samurai Armor.

Sounds like there will be a lot of roleplaying opportunities.

Desert Setting: Check
Snow Setting: Check
City setting: Check
Swamp Setting: Check
Space Setting: Check

Already know what the next DLC is!

Fallout: Waterworld!

Starring Kevin Costner, Dennis Hopper and Jeanne Tripplehorn. A story about one man's life at sea, a battle against all odd's, a missing father, a laughable mutation, it's so Fallout it'll make your Pip-Boy explode! With more cigarettes and machine guns than you can shake an already shakey plot-line at! Because off the coast of Hawaii, it never rains...except Blood!

I just discovered #wikia-fallout and all they're talking about is Mothership Zeta. It reminds me of when I was 10 or 12...they're in IRC while playing the game, walking each other through. They seem to think it's an awesome addon because of Samurai Armor.

Reviews are coming in:

Gameplay wise the overall experience is great as it is more of a first person shooter this time rather than a quest driven role playing action game.
Shocking.

They could have made more money by crafting a new FPS IP a la Prey. Prey was a good alien abduction game.

While I'm ranting, why the hell is Fallout 3 so green/blue? Fallout 1 and 2 had a much nicer orange/natural tone to it. Am I right?

You are. It's the desolate, lifeless coloration that leaves a very stern, serious overtone to the visual message. This does well to help fix that.

EDIT: Wow. Apparently the Dusty sky, a very humbling, depressing remake of the sky, has been removed or is missing. Lame.

Interesting. When I figure out why Fallout 3 isn't installing on my laptop, I'll load those up.

You should just check out the thread in the FO3 section of the forums. It's got the hand-picked decencies that people have been working on for improving the game.
