Time to play fallout 1&2

I'm almost afraid to post this here (seems to be a lot of hate for my kind) but here it goes.

First I must admit that I have only learned of the fallout series after playing fallout 3. I greatly enjoyed playing through fallout 3 my first and second times and then I began to wonder about the first two games of the series. I began to wonder how good they were and whether they were worth buying. I wasn't very old when the original games were released (born in 1991) and I have been wondering if anyone here would be willing to tell me the great things about these games. I am seriously considering buying these games but I want to be sure that they are worth it. Can anybody here tell me how great these games are and possibly tell me where to get a good deal on buying them?

Or you can get Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics off Steam for 20 bucks. I did that because a few years ago I lost my CD's to the first two games (I bought them in that folding bundle box if anyone remembers that) and the files were finally corrupted by the time I moved them to my latest (the fourth) computer they'd been ported to via flash drive.

Worth it, especially since I can get it on any pc now.

Depends, if what you enjoyed most about Fallout 3 was the "LOLZ EXPLOIDING HEADZ" then it may not hit the spot. If you want a game made of pure awesome sauce then you should. I'm not going to reitterate the finer points of Fallout 1/2 because I really can't be bothered.

They're cheap as chips though to pick up, so it's not like you've got much to lose from buying it. Catch a bus one day instead of driving your car or something and it'll cover the cost easily if its that big a deal.

If they're at 6 bucks a pop on GOG.com, it's a better deal.

But having it readily available on steam at any time would more than make up for the two dollar difference through convenience, don't you think?

Bandwagoning the Obvious Station :

GoG offers essentially the same functionality as Steam in that regard ; you can download from your account whenever and to whichever computer you like. To offer otherwise would be bogglingly asinine and, more pertinently, a poor business decision.

I'm not acquainted with this "Steam" or any of its functions, but I do know that if you want hard copies of FO 1 or 2 they can be had for peanuts on sites like eBay. But regardless of the cost/convenience, the first two Fallouts are essentials of the "don't ask, just play" variety. Anyone and everyone who considers him/herself a gamer needs to have a Fallout session under their belt, especially if they're inclined toward RPGs. This is inarguable. Fallout does a million and one things right, and very few things wrong. It's poetry in pixels. It is gospel.

Go, download. Be amazed. And thank us later.

To this day I've never had a friend regret playing Fallout, despite its age.

It's a proper roleplaying game, a perfect example thereof even.

Also Fallout 1&2 are just amazing and As Great as Fallout 3.. Dare I say.. Better 0.o

if you enjoyed f3, there's no guarantee you'll like f1&2, coz frankly f3 bears little or no resemblence to them in any way.

However, that doesn't mean you won't like f1&2. They were old-school rp games, but with the added twist of having genuinely open-ended questing and some fantastic dialogue. But more than anything, they were just constantly surprising... I loved that about them. You'd try something strange, something you'd think was unexpected... and it'd work!
