Mad Max director George Miller recently did a press junket in which he made <a href="http://www.abc-for-kids.com/news/storie ... ment">some major announcements</a> regarding the fourth Mad Max film called Fury Road. Filming production starts NEXT WEEK on the movie, with major filming set to start in 2010.
Filming on Fury Road will begin in New South Wales in August 2010.
And casting for the lead role is already underway, with the big question being whether Mel Gibson is set to return as the star.
Miller is staying tight-lipped about who he would like to take the lead, however it is rumoured Australian Sam Worthington and South African actress Charlize Theron will star.

Around 30 weeks of the filming of Fury Road will take place in and around Broken Hill.
The original Mad Max was filmed in Victoria, Mad Max 2 was filmed around Broken Hill and the third Mad Max was shot in Coober Pedy, South Australia.
I am not a big fan of Sam Worthington at all. I think he's crap at acting and would be a bid detriment to the film. Just bring back Mel.

"South African actress Charlize Theron"? Since when is she a south african actress?

Please just pay whatever Mel Gibson wants!! Please please!! I'm gonna pray to the sun tomorrow for Mel to be in this movie. Please Mel Gibson!

seriously though, if Mel Gibson isn't in it I dont think I'd see it in theaters. I mean sam worthington and Charlize theron?! I don't care where they were born, thats just hollywood casting at its worst... boring.

Better luck this time. At least Miller is still on board and they're shooting in Australia. Couldn't care less for Mel Gibson.

am I incorrect in thinking that Mad Max and the Road Warrior were exceptional because there were a bunch of no-name actors in it that actually had talent?

There has been a lot of movies about a father getting revenge because someone messed with his daughter. It's starting to get a bit over done now but the movie will probably be good.

Anyways, if they were to ask Mel right now its probably their best chance. Mel is trying to make a comeback it seems from the jewish media to capture the hearts of the public.

Wouldn't know; all I saw was the poster as I was on my way in to see Where the Wild Things Are.

BTW-- it's a beautiful but kind of... I'd say, aimless movie. Very strong visuals but the way things happen and the interaction, it really feels like a kid's experience/recollection. Either way, it kind of reminded me what it was like to think about things back then. I'd give it a 7.75 or an 8 of 10
