It's likely not.

I read a Koontz book a long time ago where I first heard about Heiku, then had a go at it. Didn't know that there were rules for it. Back then I liked it. Now it seems emo.

it's mostly three lines: thesis + antithesis + synthesis and in a fixed number of syllables, IIRC

Not sure about the "thesis + antithesis + synthesis", but some rule books say that you need to be able to figure out the time of the year (spring, summer, fall, winter) in the haiku, otherwise it isn't properly written.

sometimes it's just a twist in the last line - like in this one by Dinosaur.

"Haiku is a form of Japanese poetry, consisting of 17 morae (or on), in three metrical phrases of 5, 7 and 5 morae respectively[1]. Haiku typically contain a kigo, or seasonal reference, and a kireji or verbal caesura. In Japanese, haiku are traditionally printed in a single vertical line, while haiku in English usually appear in three lines, to parallel the three metrical phrases of Japanese haiku"
