help my FO3 dvd wont start

Since Bethesda decided to make Fallout 3, we figured we might as well have a forum about it.

help my FO3 dvd wont start

i wanted to play FO 3 again today but somehow now when i put the dvd in it won`t start. its almost like my computer cant read the dvd.
there arent any scratches on it or any damage of any kind.
it should work, but i cant even get on it through windows explorer.
anyone got any ideas? im running under xp proffesional

aw hell cmon! i gotta do something to pass the time.......
name other (good) games i can play and i will smartass.
i`ve been here long enough to know how people think about fallout nowadays so please spare me the remarks from the year 2004 and gimme some advise on how to fix this or tip me on better games....

Try it on another computer, the disc. Can you use other discs with your computer?

Perhaps your disk got fragmented from to many save files. Try putting it in the microwave for about seven seconds to defragment it.

i think it has to do with securerom, i managed to reinstall with an downloaded image, and i can play without the disc, but my original disc doesnt work on my pc...... ah well it works now anyway.....

You don't even need the disk if you start it through Fallout mod manager. You just can't start it through the launcher, or securom will whine at you half the time even if you've got the fucking disk in and working fine. What a well programmed game.

Your DVD Rom might be failing. I realized that after two other games had issues installing and then F3 GOTY did, I knew I had a rom issue.

EDIT: Frak me, didnt realize how old this post was. Eek. Sorry.
