New Monitor
New Monitor
Ladies and gentlemen of the DACK. I am in need of a new monitor. I am tired of boxy old CRTs and I am looking into a widescreen LCD. Any ideas, suggestions, etc?

Samsung is overpriced.
I bought a widescreen 24" full HD ASUS monitor. Works fine, doesn't cost much, decent specs.

The only scary thing about a large widescreen LCD is that you get used to it very quickly, and that all 4:3 screens look inadequate in comparison.

Yeah that's my issue. I was just house sitting, borrowed my friend's Acer 22" widescreen because it's lighter than this beast. After two weeks with that thing I can't deal with this box shaped demonic monstrosity. I can't go back.
Edit. "this beast" refers to my current ... 17ish inch CRT, probably dating back to the early 2000's. If not earlier. I'm scared to search stickers on this thing

I use an Acer H233H 23" widescreen. I saw a display with it, a Samsung and an LG lined up next to each other. My determination was the Samsung was the most expensive and had the worst picture, and the LG had a slightly better picture, but not $80 better. I haven't had any problems with the Acer and it looks great - playing games I already owned on it was almost like having a brand new game because I noticed a lot more details.
I got this to replace my old 19" CRT. Although the H223H is listed as being 17" inches high, it has two inches more vertical screen space than my old monitor.
