I haven't read the post, but I'll comment on the video first.

Las Vegas seems too intact and lit up for the Fallout setting, but I guess the same could be said of New Reno. Seeing that soldier dude standing next to the NCR flag kind of gave me hope for old-school Fallout, though.

The NCR flag immediately made me like it. The graveyard had me thinking of the Golgotha location in Fallout 2, and even the music is better than the Fallout 3 teaser.

I have very high hopes.

Including NCR is always a good choice ecspecially when all the original fallout canon will come with it, hopefully.

Reminded me of that too, but my immediate response was more of sarcasm.

Of course, given geography, Las Vegas would have fit in the Fallout 2 world map or been slightly north of it. If the game doesn't happen purely in New Vegas, that could have been the New Reno skyline and Golgotha.

QUOTE (Expresate @ Feb 4 2010, 11:42 AM) *
This ones for Chris Avellone;

You helped make Fallout 2, right? I think everybody agrees that Fallout 3 was different, but have you done anything to make NV be more like the first two? Or are you following in Bethesda's footsteps? To me it wouldn't matter either way. I'm just wondering.

Yep, I did area design and encounter design for F2 (worked on Vault City's third and final iteration, companions: Cassidy and Myron, special encounters, New Reno, Raider Camp, and the EPA, which got canned - and good thing, too, we already had too many locations) and some perk designs. Brian Menze, Feargus, Chris Jones, Scotty Everts, and Dan Spitzley are all here, all worked on Fallout 2, not all of them are on New Vegas, though.

The trailer is the only thing I can point to to answer your question, can't say much more than that. Josh and John Gonzalez (our creative lead and master of all things plot-related) put together a great story with some fun new mechanics, and they know their Fallout. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) I think we're using all the stuff we've been kicking around for the past ten+ years with RPGs and seeing how they can be applied to New Vegas on both the plot and system side.
Idiots, I'm cooler then you!

I don't think it'd be Tycho, but maybe a Ranger?

I think he's just a generic NCR soldier, just like the power armored guy in the FO3 teaser/intro was a generic BoS paladin. This is just meant to show that the NCR is involved as a military force, you're reading too much into it.

I bet media outlets will be saying that the character is the one saying "war. war never changes" like the dumb swell guy they are.
