fallout 2 restoration mod

Post by atoga »

is it worthwhile? i know it includes some lost areas like the abbey and some quest solutions and stuff which all sound potentially interesting, but if they're sketchy and only sort of fleshed out, or just really stupid (like large parts of the original fallout 2 were already) i'd rather not bother

i haven't played fallout 2 since 2003/4 days mind, so large bits of it are missing from memory

please advise, internet people

Not really. Most of the stuff in the mod is terribly designed/terribly written; you can kinda see why they were cut in the first place. Highlight: the unskippable, unavoidable (I believe) encounters with Kaga the tribal, which are ironically the most well written pieces of the mod (Avellone wrote them, I think).

I haven't played the mod but I was going to about a year ago and from what I heard by people is that it is pretty well done. Either way it's more fallout content that seems to be well liked by most so it's a plus I guess.

edit: I just read Cthulhugoats post and I guess you should probably listen to him but I remeber Mad_Max_RW liking it.

Why would you want to miss out on the giant irrepressibly talkative raccoons ? :drunk:

Play it, but it is a bit shite. The level design of the new areas is dreadful and most of the dialogue is just well... Shitty.

It takes an already bloated game covered with stretch marks and packs on enough pounds to split it open like Smiley's fat thighs when he fell down the stairs that time.

I liked it. A lot of things fit, some didn't. (my biggest annoyance was the solar scorcher relocated to epa) Looking forward to the next release. Should have the submarine. :chaingun: :vietnam: :chaingun:

It is definitely worth playing. It just isn't great. The key issue really is that killap is a programmer but not a writer.

You can tell that much just by judging from his English.
