[ Company -> Update ] - More info on Company: Interplay

Interplay has filed some new documents with the SEC which shed a bit of light on the current state of the company. Interplay investor Frymuchan summarizes on the Raging Bull forums:

Interplay just released their yearly report. Of note, Interplay said that they also have Battlechess and MDK in development as well [as Descent for Wii]. Also, Interplay said that their agreements on the remakes are all revenue sharing deals, meaning Interplay takes no monetary risks whatsoever (also less profit too, but a good safe strategy for now).
Interplay confirmed games only for handhelds and downloadable platforms (again less overhead but less potential payoff). I hope that Interplay also has plans to exploit their IP in xbox360 and PS3 games at some date, as this is a bigger potential payoff. Maybe, though, Interplay is going to restructure to be a handheld game company. It worked for the company that makes cooking Mama (can't remember the name of the company).
The I2G deal is still shrouded in mystery.
TREX rumble still has no set release date.
The quarterly report is due soon.

And more summary from Fry for DAC:

Interplay just released their yearly report. It is similar to previous reports. They have no cash on hand and the lawsuit with Beth still brewing. Of note, Interplay stated that all of their upcoming games will come out via downloadable form, no hard copies of anything. Also the PS3 and XBOX360 were not mentioned as current platforms. Interplay seems to be [transforming into] a digital company with a focus on handhelds and Iphone/Ipad, exploiting old IP via partnering with other companies in revenue sharing deals (Interplay doesn't pay for development at all, just splits some profits). It is a low overhead strategy but also likely low revenue strategy. seems Interplay is just planning to stay afloat and then bet it all on fallout MMORPG. probably they plan to relaunch as a big time company if Fallout MMORPG gets made and hits big.

Reading through the filing, you can also see that Interplay has some trouble with the IRS - they owe around $200,000 in taxes, but are working things out with the IRS.

You can find the filings here.
