funny you should ask, ekkaman, because i was just strolling through the Bethborhood and noticed member I AM BEDLAM asking us to "here (him) out":
Hello. I have an idea about how to avoid the strange gender creation topic at the beginning of the game.

Here me out.. The conversation goes something like this in the demo:
Doc Mitchell: "Looks like you took quite a beating out there. Are you a boy or a girl?"

Kind of strange sounding, right? Unless they are actually planning on putting this in the game as a comic absurdity.

This is my answer to it:

Doc Mitchell: "Looks like you took quite a beating out there. Do you have a picture of yourself with you so that I can stitch you back to normal?"
You then proceed to the character creation screen, which should look like an old sepia photograph.

- I know this idea may also be bad because in order for it to work, your character would have needed a photograph taken some time, and it is unlikely that you had access to a working camera and film that somehow lasted for 200 years.

My second idea that avoids the obvious flaws of my first one:

Doc Mitchell: "Looks like you took quite a beating out there. Could you show me what you looked like before so that I can stitch everything up where it's supposed to be?"
Then Doc wheels a similar TV screen to the character creation TV in Fallout 3 and you then create your character.

I realize this thread may already exist. Also, I'm not asking for the Devs to do this idea, the way I said. It's up to them, and I'm just attempting to give them some suggestions for the opening.
in hardcore mode i hear ol' Doc Mitchell doesn't even bother to ask, he just pulls your pants down and gives you a hand-job! still, thanks for the great suggestion, i just told Josh and he did a spit-take he was so excited!

voijinthemasta is either one of you guys trolling the Bethbeast quite fittingly...or my new bestest friend:

I never really got into the originals(yeah, yeah, say what you want), but I've read about their awesome RPG elements(damage threshold for example), and have always wanted them in Bethesda's Fallout. Now, it seems like we will.
wait. the originals have RPG elements? AWWWWWESOME!!!

Next time you want to pretend to take the high road, simply sign off and say goodnight Gracie. At least you can warm yourself by pretending to know more than your opponent.
I wasn't taking the high road, I was talking down to you, the same way I talk to all children.

And I'm not pretending, I do know more than you.

Right, with that out of the way, more Beth quotes!

Horrible Ideas
Vertibirds

* Be able to steal Vertibirds: Whether it's not operating at the moment or touching down, you should be able to kill the pilot of Vertibirds and high-jack it so you can fly it around.

* Armed Vertibirds: I realize that in Fallout 3 some Vertibirds would occasionally drop mini-nukes and that's cool, but I am pretty sure that there should be a gun on the Vertibird, like a powerful Minigun. When the enemy has an armed Vertibird it should shoot at you, if you high-jack the Vertibird you can fly it around and shoot the gun however this will attract attention and enemies with heavy guns will shoot at you.

* Fleets of Vertibirds: Maybe in a random encounter, you can watch a fleet of Vertibirds attack their enemy. If there is Vertibirds, why can't there be fleets? I'm sure if the faction wants to give a large blow to it's enemy, fleets would be a priority.

* Look out below! When an enemy wants to get the troops out of a Vertibird they don't just land down and wait for them all to storm out, that's not very smart and will get you killed. The enemy should instead sometimes jump out of Vertibirds with parachutes or remain in a hover position in the area while shooting at enemies and letting the troops rappel down a rope.
Speaking of androids - there should be more of them.
roswel

Cyborgs

The ability to get hurt and turn into a cyborg

build your own robot

Clothes customazation such as color fabric how tuff it is

being able to bury your items for later

turn a cave into your home

lots of other stuff hoping for an awesome game
I'm actually expecting some kind of fanatical desert tribe.

The more Dune references, the better.
#1 = Area 51
#2 = Alamo
#3 = Modification of weapon and explosif (like Add something in a nade to made a better Frag nade or a remote nade)
#4 = Trowing Knife (please god... made it!!)
#5 = Bigger inside gaming. REALY BIGGER...
#6 = Realy tactic fight (Super IA sucks!)
#7 = Sniper and good snipe spot. I want to take out many ennemy from the top of a building.

Area 51  with or without alien i want to go in this place :embarrass:
Possibly utilize the PSP and have it combined with the game as a menu or inventory / PIP Boy as a added extra for people who own a PSP.

Oh and the Rear View mirror comment, would ya like to see whats behind ya!! haha!

Thoughts or ideas on what the PSP could be used for?

better VATS, larger worlds, more "dungeons like" areas, maybe a horse-like mutant to ride on like in oblivion :obliviongate: . oh and MORE GUNS!! :gun:

EDIT: an arena would be cool.
Well...

1. More Creeatures
2. Two or three more creepy scary creatures like mirelurks
3. MORE GUNS
4. More places & locations to explore
5. Wider and Bigger Map
6. More Wider desert to walk and fog caused by the wind-sand
7. MUTTIES!!
8. More followers with unlimited health (FAWKES!!)
9. Family, no mom and dad searching!
10. Nuclear Explosions in story-line
11. Big Quests and story-line
12. Houses & Cool Themmes
13. Drag 'n' Drop stuff tool
14. NCR
15. Outcasts (OH PLEASE)
16. Special Power Armors
17. Some nice and bid DLCs
18. Ghouls. Just K.i.d.d.i.n.g.
19. Stripper Clubs
20. V.A.T.S.
with NV, i wanna' be running through a crowded casino with 100 gang bangers on my ass, using hookers and drug dealers as body shields, while i toss grenades behind me, occasionally popping out to fire off a few rounds... and i want deathclaws and behemoths and robots tearing down the walls at the same time. :hehe:
I want a big crime boss who wears suits and always is smoking cigars and sounds like hes from brooklynn and shoots tommy guns and owns the casino areas.....
Ok.... I've been thinking of How co op would be, playing over the internet or even local, It would be a good idea, like when you die, you spawn back to your friend or something, But what about vats? If there IS vats, there is no co op... Because if you have vats, then it's just gonna be a race to see who can press vats first... get what im saying?

OOR When you play co op, vats will be disabled, because you know how Vats gives you that boost to be a bit stronger? Well since you have a friend next to you, That's gonna be your boost to be stronger.... Not Vats... and when you're playing just by yourself, VATS works fine.
I came up with this idea a long time ago and i thought it would fit well in new vegas.

I call it, the Slot-Machine Gun. Its an idea for a buildable weapon. made out of components from a slot machine. Its ammo would be casino tokens. my idea for parts

slot component
slot machine lever
coin feeder
coind dropper (barrel of gun)

just an idea. feel free to improve on it or critizice. or just agree. :)
Drooling Retards Ahoy!:
As the topic title says: What do you want most in New Vegas?

I really want alot of things and places to explore like in Fallout 3, together with a fantastic story, to create one of the most immersive games ever!
I think it would be pretty cool if we were to get avatar awards for the 360 avatars on fallout new vegas because a few other games give you awards just saying it would be pretty cool to have that stuff on your avatar. :sb:
I'm not saying I dislike the music, in fact I really love it (talking about the music playing on GNR, and on the intros), but wasn't this music made in the 1950's and didn't the bombs fall in 2077? Even though this is an alternate reality, could people really listen to the same music for so long? What's stopping people from making music before the bombs fell, and if they did, then where is it?

Butthurt anyone? The potion is wearing off
So, in 1 of the main quest quests... (ONLY OPEN SPOILER SHEET IF YOU HAVE BEEN MAIN MQ!!!
Spoiler
in Vault 82 you should realize that super mutants spawn from Vault 82 with this weird goo (I learned from listening to a conversation)
so they dip people in the goo and WALLAH! Super Mutant... But Behemoths
2 arguements
1. Who is that big? Im sure mutation might turn them that big but still
2. How do they get out? The entire vault would be ripped apart by their growth, or they would get cramped and die, not get out of the tiny vault door barely big enough for a deathclaw, i mean wtf?!!?

so with that, would anyone like to comment?
check out ragingbull.com and duckandcover.cx and you can read some of the court documents about how Bethesda is trying to bully Interplay into bankruptcy through aggressive legal maneuvering. Bethesda did dirty little tricks like not allowing Interplay to even post on their website that they are working on Fallout MMORPG to try to hurt Interplay's chances of raising financing. Bethesda also tried to stop Interplay from selling Fallout Trilogy, which was allowed in their agreement and which Bethesda knew Interplay has been selling since 2005. These are just a few of numerous dirty tricks Bethesda employed to try to bully the little guy and force Interplay into bankruptcy by hitting them with inordinate amounts of legal expenses.

anyways, I'm getting more and more disillusioned with Bethesda's dirty business tactics... I hope Interplay gets the Fallout license back in the lawsuit.
I'm actually surpised Beth mods didn't ban that guy, although the topic is now locked.

I have noticed that all the trees and plants are dead in Fallout 3. All but small brown looking shrubs are left. I have seen no crops growing anywhere but in Oasis. In F1 and F2 the people had Crops (mutated Corn) and such. In F2 there was a Farm with alot of Mutated corn and Apple trees. There were other plants as well that they grow. There were living trees all over in the other fallout games.
I can't see people living off nothing but Meat in the capital capital wasteland for 200 years. In the Fallout world food does have a very long shelf life. Pre-war food and drink can last a very very long time I know that. After 200 years and no one making any new pre-war like food, the supply of pre-war food would have been long since eaten up.
So I am asking how could people live for that long without plants? and why are there no plants no crops but in Oasis?
Some questions on the weapons and armor from fallout 1/2 and 3. In 2 the advanced power armor mk 2 looks completely different than in FO 3. Also in 1/2 the brotherhood would wear t51 power armor, in 3 its t45. The laser and plasma weapons from 1/2 and 3 are also completely different. I know that there different models, but why is it DC only has one type and FO 1/2 have 1 type. Why is it everything is different and almost nothing remained from the original games.
I never quite understood, why in Fallout 3 they chose to use caps? It made sense in Fallout 1, since caps were backed by the Hub (which was an economic superpower at the time), but were eventually abandoned as currency, and replaced by gold which was backed by the NCR, Vault City & New Reno.

Guys, you need to avoid that place like the tar baby that it is.

The brilliance of RPG enlightenment will never pierce the murky gloom of their troglodytian ignorance.
Let them wallow in their own shit.
The place makes the Special Olympics look like a fucking MESNA convention.

You best direct your energies towards more rewarding forms of ridicule, like the Codex did pre-decline.

What a bunch of dribblers.
However, the comment on crops is an interesting one. I wonder what kind of effect a nuclear apocalypse would actually have on the world. I recently read an article in the National Geographic about this volcano in Washington (St. Helen, I think) that erupted 30 years ago or so. The area was closed off as an economic research zone. The interesting thing is that unlike what was expected by scientists that the recovery would come from the outside, it actually came from the inside. Anyway, it too long to explain so just read the article, just found it online:
http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2010/ ... unk-text/1

On another topic, what do you guys think of vehicles in F:NV? I personally think it's a good idea. FO2 had a car, hell even Mad Max had a car. Personally, I would prefer something like a motorbike or a light jeep, one that is fast but serves no purpose in combat. I didn't play FO3 for long enough to get bored of exploration, but I'm sure that I will enjoy it more if there are vehicles to make it slightly faster and less tedious.
edit: oh and no fucking deathclaws to ride obviously. God that Siede guy is one dumb motherfucker.

Agreed. So what if Fallout 2 had a car? It also had a ghost and a town torn apart by ninjas and scientologists. That game wasn't very consistant.

So you still haven't given me one good reason as to why there should not be vehicles in F:NV.

1) Bethesda's map was too small, NV will no doubt be small.

2) It really served no purpose other than faster travelling, and NV will doubt have quick travel.

3) There's going to be enemies every 5 meters, so it'll got shot to pieces in no time.

4) Storywise, either the fuel source will make no sense or it will be a totally recycled mission from Fallout 2.

And also

because the game is next-gen-ified enough already? if the vehicle was more a symbol for fast map travel as in FO2, fine. but i don't want to play fucking Borderlands when i play a Fallout game.

Dude, next-gen? I'm sure a couple of motorbikes would have survived the apocalypse, don't you think? Regardless, anyone with a bit of know-how and the necessary parts could make one, it's fucking cake. Now fuel would be another issue.

I personally hate fast travel. Hated it in Oblivion, hated it in FO3, in fact I think it was one of the things that put me off the most from the game. However, if there was a method of getting from one place to another faster than walking speed, I would end up never using the shitty fast travel system. Good enough for me.

i'm talking about map travel ala Fallout 1/2 and Arcanum.

you said it yourself

what's the point of having a vehicle if you don't have petrol for it
besides it's pretty likely that nearly everything would have rotten in 200+ years anyway

holy shit, you all have never heard of fermentation and the ability to run shit on alcohol?

also.. true or false. items were forged only after the industrial revolution.

if it is impossible to make a motorbike, the whole viablility of places like the oil rig still existing when FO2 takes place is nil.
