Sound bugs?

Like Tactics? Found a cool mod for another game that reminds you of Fallout? Playing those crappy spin-off console games called "Fallout"? Discuss here.

Sound bugs?

Post by Blacken »

I've been replaying FO:T now, and I'm running into a nasty (almost game-killing) bug. It seems that any sound effects (gunshots, boots, talking) echoes repeatedly and makes it sound like gibberish. I don't think it's a hardware problem, because I haven't changed any hardware and have barely even used the machine since I last played through the game. All other games work fine, too.

Help?

You might just want to re-boot your computer and try again. If that doesn't work, you could re-install FOT and re-patch it (1.27), and if THAT doesn't work, re-install your sound card drivers.

If THAT doesn't work...

Unfortunately, I don't have my FO:T CDs, except disc 1. I loaned 'em to a friend, and then got back disc 1 so I could play it. And my sound drivers can't be uninstalled/reinstalled, because it's an onboard and has a few quirks. Old mobo, and all.

hmmm, i would re-install (always a good option), delete all of your saved games (i know its not pleasant), and install the 1.25 and 1.27 patches.

Yeah, re-install and re-patch to 1.27 sounds the best plan of action.

It may be something to do with your version of DirectX, that causes problems if the version is incorrect.

Well, I reinstalled it. No effect. Reinstalled DX8.1b, still no effect. It better not be a sound issue, or I gotta buy a new mobo...
