Besides, what's the point of having kids if we can't kill them? Are they going to help us carry shit, or is there like an incentive to hang out with them? Are they going to have information that's vital to the story? Will the PC be able to make money on the side as a babysitter? If they're just going to be bystanders, might as well make em innocent bystanders, if you know what I mean.
Fallout 2 is a 2D CRPG. This is a 3D, gore like FPS-RPG and it's probably cheaper for them to release one version even to the FEW countries that would accept kids killed.
Who the fuck cares if you can or can't kill children when anyone can mod the crap within 1 month of release and will mod it. Yes Bethesda are lazy bastards but we know this already. But this is one of the few things where if I ran a software company that I also wouldn't be bothered with just to please a small portion of fans who absolutely demand it.

They are going to live their little happy lives in a post-apocalyptic world loathing the day when they become adults and have to work like whores or drugdealers. Even a raider wouldn't kill a bloody kid for no reason, just gives you a bad rep.St. Toxic wrote:Besides, what's the point of having kids if we can't kill them? So the only "role" that you're missing out on is a childmurdering psychopaths role and while that shit is fun ONE single time it's not something you need to create a shitstorm over as a company just to please the small bunch of people who'd enjoy doing it.
Now granted there's always SOME kid you want to blow the brains of or at least shoot in the foot to make him go away. But as I said, we'll just have to mod that one. Reclassify kids as "adults" and the thing is done. Now IF they hardcode that crap then we have an issue.
T'll then let's just chill out and complain over the actual bad game design, plot, dialouge and other things known for Bethesda that actually have an impact on the game.

Do you have personal stake in the company or something? Stop making lame excuses for these dickless wonders and get with the program. I mean, when the actual player base is going "Let the community fix it." you know for a fact that you're dealing with the retards responsible for the current decline in the games industry.
And yet, a brahmin-dung sprite has more emotion than the full Fallout 3 character cast put together. I'd literally feel worse about stepping in some Fallout shit than wiping out the "Capitol wasteland" brigade. For fucks sake, "gore like", what the fuck are you even talking about?Username wrote:Fallout 2 is a 2D CRPG. This is a 3D, gore like FPS-RPG
I'm still convinced Beth made Twilight (or w/e that kid town is called who gives a shit, really?) and the children invincible little bastards as a slap in the face of the "old school" fans. That and they were too scared mommy wouldn't buy little Billy the game if he was reenacting Columbine (or Virginia Tech for you college-age kiddies).

Trust me on this one when I say that I have whined and flamed Bethesda for their fucking cheap addons and for the need of the community to fix every little thing.
But it's just that I think, In MY humble opinion, that his whole kid thing is blown out of proportion compared to the other real problems and crap in the previous and possibly this new title that the modding community can't even fix if they tried.
Bullshit. There's lots of reasons a raider would kill a kid.Username wrote:Even a raider wouldn't kill a bloody kid for no reason, just gives you a bad rep..
1) Terrorize the town/community/family to which the child belongs.
2) Most raiders in Fallout 3 seem to be cannibals. Children are delicious.
3) Just for the hell of it/collateral damage.
If you don't want kids killed in a game like the new Fallouts, it's simple enough to simply not include them. They added nothing to the first Fallout games aside from a sticky situation in the Den and the ability to RP a heartless fucker when the bounty hunters came for you. Their lack in Fallout Tactics wasn't even felt, and in Bethesda's Fallout bounty hunters come after you regardless of moral stance.
This is a legitimate design issue to bitch about because it's a senseless addition.

This just does not strike me as fallout.
Take the name fallout out of the title and insert random 1st person shooter set in desert. What here says fallout?
I just do not get it. I played Fallout 3 and while i though it was pretty and the engine was nice the game play was lifeless, uninspiring and the story line was damn near non-existing.
So i guess we are going to get F3 w/ lights... sigh...

i mean, we knew the graphics would look like this, right? and they're obviously showing combat/gambling at E3 for a reason. what could make this "Fallout" is a combination of good writing and fixed gameplay mechanics like skills, traits, perks and SPECIAL. and none of that is really going to show itself until it's time to play the thing. don't get me wrong, i hate the shitty models and animations as much as the next guy...but who here thought Obsidian was really going to spend time on that aspect of the game with a little over a year to go? especially when considering the majority of bawwwing from us glittering gems was about story, writing and gameplay.The-Barron wrote:This just does not strike me as fallout.

I'm pretty sure you can't kill children is because the ESRB is more strict and having kill able kids in 3d becomes too realistic and also if they did have killable kids all the previews would be about it and then you would have parents in rage etc. They can make all the excuses you want but thats the dealio so what ever, I'm not going to blame the developer for not putting in killable children as it would be a stupid design decision because of all the shit it would stir.
