Why do you have a pen if you don't write professionally?

Why would you have your truck all lifted if you don't race it?

Why'd you put those sport tires on your car? You're not going to the nurburgring.

Why do you watch news reports on afghanistan? You're not going to war.

Why do you read motor trend? You'll never own a ferrari.

See, i can use your same logic, and it sounds quite absurd doesn't it? :drunk:

I think you'll fnd that Ambulances were designed to save people, handguns were designed to put them in the back of them.
That’s because you don’t understand the purpose of having a gun-
“Peace Through Overwhelming Firepower.
SenisterDenister wrote:Can't go hunting with a pistol besides using a magnum, any thing else is impractical. You can say you'll keep it for self defense, but why not just use a regular shotgun? Handguns are easy to conceal and are, to my knowledge, the leading cause of weapon related fatalities in the US.
The .410 gge shotgun is universally recommended for home defense. But there ARE people who go hunting with pistols.
Me, I’d only hunt for food, and then only if the Fallout world came into being, so I’m NOT keeping them for hunting.
SenisterDenister wrote:You can argue that guns don't kill people, but a handgun can't be used for anything other than a weapon against people in nearly every situation. No good will come from having one, so why have it?
Because having it sends a message to someone that might wish you ill- “Go start something with someone else. (Or the simpler colloquialism “Peace Through Overwhelming firepower.)
Your a coward who needs a hand gun to have the power to tell another man what to do, grow some balls mate and learn to throw a punch. :drunk:

No. Friend of mine was dumping her bf and he was about to hit her. I didn't say I won the fight, I ended up over a car. Still.

The logic you're using is spotty at best. Pistols are dangerous to everyone and can't be used for anything practically outside of killing people.
Ok. Go start a fight with a cop. (Preferably not a BART cop, though… They shoot first and ask questions never.)
Yonmanc wrote:Peace from what exactly? I live a pretty peaceful life, and I don't own a handgun.
Lucky you. I hadn’t always lived in Shangri-la, and my proffessions are surrounded by violence all day long.
Yonmanc wrote:Because shooting animals is far worse than shooting people?
No. I just don’t feel some need to kill an animal for no apparent reason.
Yonmanc wrote:So does not being a pussy.
Deterrent value. Officer presence.
Yonmanc wrote:1) Have you ever started a fight with someone 3 times your size that you know full well could kill you without a weapon? (I have)
¿Started? No. ¿Finished? Yes (unless you count on the job).
Never START a fight, whether you have to or not. Always finish them. (I fight dirty, BTW.)
Yonmanc wrote:2) Can you name any other purpose for a handgun other than shooting people? I ask this because, I myself enjoy air rifles, and yes, should the gun laws be less restrctive in this country I'd own a real rifle. However, I wouldn't own a handgun. Rifles have lots of uses: hunting, target shooting, protecting farm animals from foxes/wolves etc, skeet shooting. Handguns were only designed to hurt people. You can try and use them for the other things mentioned, but c'mon, really.
No, I really can’t. Unless you count flare guns, but those can be used to kill too.

I thrown plenty of those over the years. Punches don’t exactly overcome bullets.

I normally don’t give the back and forth, but this time I will:

I think its a bad thing when people don't trust the police, but seeing a paranoid delusional saying so makes me feel a little more at ease about it.

Do not assume to judge me… And in other news…

Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Officer Johannes MEHSERLE shot and killed Oscar GRANT on newy year’s Eve.
Grant had been fighting when MEHSERLE moved in to break up the fight; At some point, MEHSERLE had GRANT face down, then pulled his gun and shot GRANT in the head. MEHSERLE claims he thought he was pulling his TASER, but I say “Bullshit.

Normally I’m a supporter of cops but this time, there’s no way in Hell a mistake was made. No way.

My bad. I didn’t forget the shoot part, I thought you mean it was the largest caliber MG ever produced (probably Russian).
I wonder what is the worlds largest MG is… Oh well, nevermind.

That would be a .50 as anything larger is refered to as a cannon, though the Russian 12.7x108mm is often considered the largest machine gun round is often called a .51. It's really just a .50 round that is slightly longer.

So, basically, the Russian DShK would technically be considered the largest machine gun, but there's afew Russian machine guns that use the 12.7x108mm

This is what I'm talking about though. I still pray to see Lee Ermey there one day.

Depends on how you define a 'Machine Gun'. The traditional way is to call everything above 20mm 'cannons', although the 20 mm autocannons aren't really anything else than oversized machine guns. So you could say that an automatic weapon that can fire in 'full-auto mode' and uses 19 mm caliber ammunition would in fact be the largest machine gun.

DShK's successor, NSV, is also a nice gun in that same manly 12,7x108mm caliber. It's part of the basic infantry equipment in FDR so I'm more than familiar with it myself.

DShK and NSV are both used as mounted weapons, but the crazy Russians found out in Chechenya that their basic infantry support weapons didn't pack enough punch, so they created Kord 12.7 - a manly 12,7x108 squad automatic weapon. Apparently, it works real fine against them guerrillas in semi-urban enviroments where you need to be both mobile and able to poke some holes in concrete buildings.

EDIT: picture goodness.
