We are very pleased to announce that UK retailer Argos is giving away copies of Fallout: New Vegas to DAC's readers!

Here are the prizes:

2 Copies of Fallout: New Vegas for the XBOX360

2 Copies of Fallout: New Vegas for the PS3

The Basics:

There are actually two separate contests: a Trivia Contest and a Short Story Contest. 1 copy of the game will be given to the winner of the Trivia Contest and 3 copies will be given to the winners of the story contest. Unfortunately, the contest is only open to residents of the UK as Argos only delivers to the UK. Contest submissions will be accepted until Midnight GMT, 06 November 2010 for the trivia contest. Short story submissions will be accepted until Midnight GMT, 04 November 2010, at which time peer-voting will commence to determine the winners.

The Short Story Competition

In 250 words or less, write a short story about one of your favorite Fallout memories. Your story can be from the perspective of a character in the Fallout world, or from the perspective of a third-person narrator. It should describe a situation that takes place in any one of the Fallout games. Please post your story here for it to be counted. The stories will be judged by your peers and three winners will be selected.

The Trivia Contest

These questions are designed to test your knowledge of Fallout series. They are a bit more obscure than your average Fallout trivia contest, so you might have to do so replaying to find the answers! Please submit your completed answers via Private Message to King of Creation. Be sure to indicate which version you would like if you win (Xbox or PS3). We will randomly select the winner from the pool of completely correct submissions. The questions are as follows:

1.) Fallout: New Vegas Senior Designer Chris Avellone was once threatened by a celebrity. Who was that celebrity?

2.) Who is the only character to appear in Fallout 1, 2, and 3?
3.) Name one pop-culture reference/special encounter/etc. from a Fallout game.
4.) Faithful Fallout 1 follower Ian often had to be killed by players due to an overlooked design flaw. What was the reason for his numerous deaths?
5.) What do an Evangelist, Porn Star, Lawyer, Doctor, Game Designer, Artist, Scientist, and Politician have in common in terms of the Fallout world?
6.) After destroying the oil rig in Fallout 2, a special item becomes available which gives the player a massive XP and skill boost when used (and it can be used an infinite amount of times). Where, specifically, is this item located?

7.) Which original Fallout series NPC has a relative in Fallout: New Vegas?

8.) What RPG system was Fallout originally going to use?

9.) Fallout is considered the spiritual successor to which game?

10.) The city of Bakersfield became which location in the Fallout world?

I ended up misreading number 6 as asking what the item was, rather than where it was located. I sent a corrected answer via PM. Hope that doesn't screw up my chances.
Either way, I don't really care. I already have the PC version and am astonished by how much better it is than Fallout 3 and how close to Fallout 1 and 2 it feels (well, as much as possible with the crappy Gamebryo engine and first/third person behind the back perspective and lack of turn-based combat.)
