My roommate let me have an album from a band called Between the Buried and Me. They're progressive metal and somewhat local, being based out of Raleigh (which is like a three hour drive from where I'm at right now).
They have screaming sections a lot, but instrumentally musicality of it all is pretty damn impressive.
The album he gave me is called Colors, and the entire album was done in a single recording with every song leading into another, and if there weren't any slight time dividers between tracks the whole album would be one entire song. It reminds me of what Pink Floyd did on their albums.
Even if you don't like screaming, just give this song a chance.

what i'm wondering is why do all these post-nu-metal bands have retarded fucking names like "between the buried and me" or "petals of a blood signed past" or "dead by the horizon" or "nightwish" or "the hitler jew jew jew secksual" or whatever
this occurred to me as wellRockabilly and rock 'n roll. If I didn't know any better I'd say Alister would be one of Dreadnought's alts.

They actually got their band name from a line in a Counting Crows song, which isn't very metal at all.Gimp Mask wrote:what i'm wondering is why do all these post-nu-metal bands have retarded fucking names like "between the buried and me" or "petals of a blood signed past" or "dead by the horizon" or "nightwish" or "the hitler jew jew jew secksual" or whatever

Back when Rockabilly was still Rockabilly, with it's hillbilly roots and all, it was what nowadays passes as "subcultural". Frowned upon by the people back then, the cat-music influenced by the sound of the negroe, quickly found acceptance amongst the masses and became Rock'N'Roll and therefore pop music. I blame Elvis and 1956.Superhaze wrote:Yeah, because it is made for radio pop music Frater, what did you expect?
Even with disregard on my little history lesson, it's still better than today's pop music. It was real people, real instruments, real sound.
Nowadays it's all antares autotune and pumping beats at around 120 - 130 bpm.

I don't listen to music from the 60s.
I don't know if you intentionally ignore information or if it's your brain that's working at 1.21 JiggaProspers, but I just explained you the chronology of 50s pop. Rockabilly never was, and never will be, pop.
Rock'N'Roll yes.
Rockabilly no.
No matter how many times you say Hipster (which has absolutely nothing to do with Rockabilly).
