IR pass filters

Post by Alister McFap II Esq. »

I'm thinking on using one to significantly enhance the night vision capabilities of my camcorder with an IR spotlight (strong flashlight + IR pass filter + clamp + camera = win).

There's one with 720 nm and one with 950 nm Wavelength... something something I have no idea. I have no knowledge whatsoever of theoretical IR bullshit.
That's the reason why I created this thread. Which one is better?

I figured. Then again, who knows...

(also I cbf to sign up at some photo forum - it's probably full of hipsters that just discovered b/w photography anyway)

Edit:

I wrote an old buddy of mine who's a photographer... gonna see what he says. Gonna post results here in case anybody here wants to enhance the range of their night vision tech.

sounds like a good plan stan. im not sure about bothering putting the filter over the light though, maybe just put it right on the lens? it also depends a bit on the camcorder i guess also why are you needing NV capabilities on a camcorder LOL

for those who are like 'gee whiz i dont give 2 solitary FUCKS about this camcorder' then look at this picture of ultraviolet and infrared comparisons. infrared makes everything soft like a happy elf soft focus this whilst ultraviolet makes you into a orc!

As I said, my camcorder does have night vision, all I need is a strong IR light source to boost the night vision range. A strong LED flashlight with IR pass filter is perfect for this.

Pretty cheap. Since I know absolutely nothing about this sort of thing I would say try out both of them and give your own feedback.
