Mechs should only be like Battletech, those in the videos need to be slower, less jumpy, and more firepower oriented. Right now it looks like elementals or 20 ton mechs hopping around everywhere. I also didn't see any kind of localized damage and right now there's nothing about mech customization. Right now it looks pretty, but there's also little distinguishing it from a mech version of Call of Duty in my eyes.

Its the years of repressed hatred for the gaming industry's lack of a good mech simulator since Mechwarrior 3. 4 was okay and since its free its doing an alright job of holding me over for the new Mechwarrior game, but I lost my Mechwarrior 3 disk and I can't play it online even if I had it so I'm getting real antsy about mech games more than ever now.TheCynic wrote:SenisterDenister: Cheerio PisserSenisterDenister wrote:Mechs should only be like Battletech, those in the videos need to be slower, less jumpy, and more firepower oriented. The only Mechwarrior games I'm able to get into are the Mercenaries ones because the story is too hokey and constraints on salvage and customization are too strict in the main titles.
I was always a big Earthsiege guy. Sad to see that franchise go the way of jumpy first person shooter then disappear.

Tribes had great potential but fell fairly short enough unto the "oh yeah that game" section of the brain.
Haven't played a mech game since Mechwarrior 2 for PS1, and that was one hundred and something years ago.
This game looks pretty sweet but frankly I've found steering mechs to be the equivalent of trying to steer a fart out your peehole (as I recall).
Nay, for fast-paced action games with the delusion of being testosterone maximus in the gaming industry () I think in the pre-stages as of now Battlefield 3 looks to be locked on target.

Like fan-fiction.
Battle out of Hell isn't bad, either. Just steer clear of Overdose/Resurrection. They are both indefensibly horrific.
