Light does not actually travel in curves, it is just a particle and wave at the same time (this actually depends on the person observing it look it up V interesting) and thus gravity influences it thus it travels in a striaght line till it is influenced by a large mass (so iow all matter influences light since they are the same thing)that influences it's direction so it curves near large dense objects, ie black holes planets stars etc.
