Not sure where and how you work but around here, at least in the legal sector, you get provided a Blackberry by your work for all work related things. They want you to pick up outside of work hours (but then again, work hours for lawyers are 24/7 anyway) but they don't really expect it, unless they know that you should be aware of something. They wouldn't ever call your private number, unless it was an absolute necessity.

I have a blackberry. the maps thing has come in handy for getting to job interviews out in bumfuckistan (lol) and I actually check my emails daily rather than once a month. I also have friends who don't own mobiles so they can contact me through facebook or whatever. It costs about the same I'd be paying if I went pay as you go and if im going to be on a contract i may as well have a phone i can play chess on huh
i havent posted on dac from it yet though jeez. maybe ill start giving you life updates on my bass feed.

I have a smartphone and all of the things you guys mention are very useful but I rarely use them. I use maps a handful of times and occasionally I check my email but not nearly as much as I would expect I should, I surprisingly don't even game on it. It's kind of sad that I don't make more use of my iphone but it's one of those things that I will probably let pass me by.
Also it's kind of a pain in the ass if you use an email client for email because then you don't check your mail on your phone for a week and it downloads like 50 emails you already read elsewhere.
