Harry Potter 8: I guess I should have watched the Rest
So on friday my mom bought the Harry Potter Deathly Hallows part 1 on DVD and we watched it. I didn't really understand what was going on as there was flying magic missiles and flying motorcycles while everyone was saying moogle. There were some slow parts and eh, I might have liked it if I saw the 6 other movies or read the books but I didn't.
So despite knowing that I'm out of my league I decided to go see part 2 and it was pretty much the same except with more battles and stuff. I felt kind of secluded not having watching or read the Harry Potter stuff and it reminded me of how a console gamer must feel playing a PC game in the late 90's. My dad kept falling asleep during the movie and I thought he was going to fall over but I couldn't blame him, there wasn't just enough there for a first comer to come in during the last act.
Emma Watson was pretty hot in the movie but I suspect she is under age and feel a bit dirty saying that. She seem like a younger Keri Russel.
Either way, I almost cried when that little elf died in the first part so maybe the movie had magic.

There are tons of potter fans who are our age, they even read the books later and enjoyed them. It looks like kiddy shit but lots of older people dig it.Tofu Man wrote:How about didn't see or read anything? Is any of this (Potter, not the review) in any way relevant to someone over the age of 8?

When the Potter series started, plenty of nieces / nephews, and acquataces' dependents, all too young to vote, that the story had some 'tribal' relevancy.
Showing up to holiday gatherings technically single, got brigaded with the other unmarrieds at the kid's table.
Being current with the story, gave me honorary contemporary status.
Preferred Jim Dale's performance in the unabridged audio books,
as good as the late Patrick Tull in creating multiple voices with out hamming it up, over the top.
My local library carries the series, and interesting how the cassette tapes hold up better than the scratch-able CD's.
Emma Watson got my attention when I saw this film industry award pic.
Up staging the group .... could have modeled but movies got her first.
Can stalk fashion pics of EW, even find some photo shopped soft / hard porn.
The pro shots are better.
Movie.
Magazine.
This tub girl safe for work?
Harry Potter The Movie Series?
Never took to the video versions. Maybe seen two.
From my driveway the ultimate entertainment of this franchise is a platform to launch EW's legs.

Edit. Just noticed the poll, guess I'm holding out for a 4th, (King Comrade?), choice and consequence, the audio books.

I honestly felt not a lot really happened during that last movie. the film director could've combined the two movies and had a feature length film, if it weren't for the extra revenue. apart from that, nitpicky subjective arguments of directorial originality are all you'll find wrong with the movie from me (seriously? harry potter and the deathly hallows, PART 2. amazing). though I imagine jk rowling no doubt has issues with diluting her "message" translated to screen.
there were cheers and laughs and "woah ho"'s from the audience, to which I could only shake my head, but that's more a fanbase problem than anything wrong with the movie. my friend remarked that there was nobody over thirty years of age, and it's true, there wasn't.
anyway, good review poops. I felt exactly the same way when I first started watching it. I come from the perspective of having read the books (what seems like ages ago) but I was struggling somewhat to understand where the fuck we were at the beginning of the movie. I suppose tolerable writing was able to supply uneducated viewers with an in media res beginning (if they'd done a flashback or a previously on I'm sure I would've thrown up), but that's the nature of the beast I suppose. This movie was made for fans, and fans all watched it and etc. ok so I've spent enough time commenting on harry potter in this stint to last me a lifetime, so suffice it to say I didn't really like the movie but if you liked it what do you care, I'm just some fucker on the internet.
