A trend that starts whenever he feels like starting the story as opposed to when it actually started? And how about the current "if it's not a sequel or a pre-existing IP it isn't worth developing" trend? Oh well, I'll just ignore "legacy games" because Mr. Buttplug sez they're unimportant.human buttplug wrote:Legacy games matter, but they don't play an active role in shaping the trends we see on a year to year basis.
Telling it how it is, Fox News style.

I skipped around through the video and got a general idea...and really....I kinda question if he understands what the word "Trend" means. Post Apocalyptica/Negative Utopia aren't exactly NEW to video games and have been around since the dawn of video games, so I neglect to see how it's some sort of "EMERGING TREND" started by this generation within this or any context and even within this generation, I felt he made some omissions.
Brink, for instance, bared worth mentioning, even if the game itself was subpar. Metro, Resistance, and hell.....even Gears of War all technically fill the category he seems to be trying to define, but receive no mention as they'd go counter to what he's trying to accomplish. Basically, he's trying to say that 4 games, 2 of which are in the same franchise and use the same engine, mark some sort of trend, which is especially hilarious since Rage was in the works before Bioshock was ever released. Anything aside from what he's trying to prove is ignored. I think that's what they call "Grasping Straws."
I also think he's confusing Post Apocalyptica with just a lawless desert setting. Borderlands isn't really post apocalyptic, just set on a lawless planet rather than a wasteland. It has more in common with Red Dead Redemption or Far Cry 2 than Fallout. It also wasn't remotely a "Small game." The hype machine was behind it before it was completely redesigned.
So yea. The guy has no clue what he's talking about, really.

I don't think that you can lose faith in humanity just because of several stupid comments.SenisterDenister wrote:Those youtube comments make me lose faith in humanity.
