Cim Sity 4 is a fun time. Particularly with certain mods that have escaped my memory. Something to do with elevation and topopopopography ?

Personally, I felt Tropico 4 was subpar compared to the original.

Not cities, obviously, but my absolute favourite of this genre is (and will probably always be) Rollercoaster Tycoon. Particularly for all the creative ways in which you can murder your guests. Also for being coded in assembly by one (1) dedicated fiend. Nostalgia aside, 3 is highly entertaining too. :drunk:

I'd go with SimCity 4 too. SimCity Societies was shite. CityLife might be worth checking out too. I'd avoid Tycoon City New York, get's real old real quick. I've been playing SimCity 4 non-stop since 2004.

Way to think small Megs. Why build a city when the universe can be right at your fingertips?

I agree with :drunk: and Yonmanc. SimCity4 best satisfies your megalomaniac city planner needs. Some of the mods are pretty neat but installing too many can make the game quite heavy and unstable.

I also made some maps to SC4 years ago using topographic data.
Edit: here's one

I still think Sim City 2000 is the best. The later games in the series don't even have fucking arcologies. They could have done so much with future eras like have it transform into Blade Runner.
