That's not quite what I've heard, strapon. I'll have to find that source again, but the first weapon that could really be called a submachinegun was some Italian pos.

this wasnt really an smg though, it was a machine pistol.

did you know that Han Solo's blaster thing is modelled after the mouser? just look at it.

smg's where developed off of the machine pistol, because it was impracticle, sortof

I think the developers fucked that up. As the guy doesn't use the gun, he pulls out a ripper (or a knife) and uses that instead. They gave the wrong ammo to the dude.

The same size (just a bit smaller), less strength

Actually in Finland SMG and Machine Pistol are the same thing = "Konepistooli"
