Several new accounts were made using my email address. I'm not sure how that even works, at this point, but KoC's automated responses alerted me to this, and Tom said via FB he hasn't touched any of it in agesTaluntain wrote:...not equipped to deal with the droves of spammers assaulting it on a daily basis and would need to be replaced, but without any staff (or funds) that's not going to happen. Running a forum today requires constant maintenance to stay ahead of the spammers.

That explains a few things, I assume your login was exploited, so definitely change your password.

Since this place has seen more activity in the last month or so than in the previous 5 years, I'll try this one last time again.
It's been a year since I've issued the warning that DAC is on its last legs as is. Since then I've upgraded all the other sites on the server to the current PHP, but I can't do anything with DAC because the forum software does not work with anything current. I also had to shut off new registrations as there is no other way to keep the spambots at bay on this outdated software, which basically turned the forums into a small club that only the old users can still participate in, but nobody new can register at. Even on the off chance, yea.
I can get things moving in the right direction if we can gather at least $500 in donations so that I can buy a new XenForo licence and migrate the forums to that. The domain is renewed until 2022 thanks to Temaperacl's donation with 40 bucks left over, so that could go towards the $500 initial goal.
The alternative is that nothing changes and that the site and forums die, likely before the domain registration expires in 2022. We'll be moving to a new server in about half a year or so and it's likely that in the new environment DAC will simply not function any more and that'll be the end. It'll be too late to do anything then.
With the number of people still around, reaching the $500 goal should be easy enough as long as a few people still care, but if not, oh well. Can't say that I didn't try. If you know any old DAC members who aren't reading this, point them to this thread.
So if you want to give DAC a shot at life in the future (or just keep it accessible in the future for old times' sake), hit the DONATE button on top right of the page and donate generously. Don't forget to leave your username in donation comments so that I can credit you here!
My plan if we gather enough money to get things started is to keep just the forums and make a simple new front page that won't look hopelessly outdated and will be easy to maintain.
