happy to hear it! she's one of my favourite artists by far, all the records sound pretty much the same so I just have the whole discography on shuffle on my ipod shuffle.

Very nice. We didn't receive alot of cultural exchangehhere in the forumffrom Kuwait do you think it's because of the gulf War?

You know why naturally, this place is like the sand barracks on a US Military Sand Base a UMSB in the desert man bring Marlboro and a Flack Jacket.

Yes
As for music, I would say a lot of it has to do with cultural syncretism stemming from globalisation and immigration, which every now and then can lead to cool stuff such as this: modern western music combined with traditional arabic music. Even though I like the scales that traditional middle-eastern music uses for example, I don't "get" it, it doesn't resonate with me; I think a major reason for that is simply my completely different cultural framework. Music like this makes the arabic elements more approachable
