Cute kid. I like the eyes. You ever going to tell him he was adopted?

My wife is actually adopted, so she's the expert more so than I am on how to approach that, but I believe the plan is to tell him at a fairly young age so it's normalized.

She told me once she had a cousin who found out accidentally that he was adopted when he was like 19 (Another family member casually remarked that he looked like his father and that you'd never know he wasn't his) and apparently had a mental breakdown and separated all contact with the family. Definitely not a thing I want.

it's not nearly as cool as you'd think. Policing comes with a lot of bullshit.

I start in the detectives office at the beginning of the year, so we'll see how that pans out.

Handsome dude and handsome baby! Good on ya Walt!

Do you usually deal with a lot of sovereign citizens?

There's lots of them around my part of the state and up into the Appalachians, when I was a dispatcher I had to take a course on them and they're fucking nutters.

Thanks, friend! He's way cuter than any little human deserves to be.

Not particularly, or atleast none that are super hardcore and do stuff like "First Amendment" challenges or shit like try to challenge me on a traffic stop that they're "Traveling" instead of driving or call me a road pirate or something like that. If you've never watched Donut Operator on da youtubes, he's got a bunch of hilarious videos with Sovereign Citizens.

So, as a sheriff, can you issue like private investigator permits and stuff?

Or can I practice without one?

I think private investigator's licenses are done through the state, not through us.

Gotta have a license to practice as a PI, atleast in KY, and it's actually illegal to do so without one - first time it's a class A misdemeanor, 2nd time it's a Class D felony.

While I can't make you a PI, I CAN deputize you for a temporary period. It's almost never a good idea, but I can do it. We can have the DAC Posse/Mama's Gang in my county.
