Just got out of rehab AMA

Talk about music, movies, TV, books, other types of entertainment and what your vices are. Also, if you're addicted to the high you get off Aspirin, this is the place to talk about it.

Just got out of rehab AMA

Post by Amis »

Was in a treatment center for a month and will be continuing in support groups for eleven more months.
No phone, no excessive training, therapy sessions 3-4 times a day.
Got confronted by family and friends on my alcohol abuse.

They call it the Minnesota Treatment, google it.

Ask me anything.

I hope you're doing better. Make any profound self discoveries?

sounds good, my old man went to rehab a couple of times, got a sick tatt there too

drank himself to death though, so

are you a religious man, that probably helps, mainline mohammed 4/20

i guess my question is how do you feel about your chances, like do you actually literally want to stop drinking or do you think you'll dabble a bit in the future, wet your lips and that

Thanks, health-wise feeling much better, the nogging still needs some work, but that's to be expected.
I kinda realized I have been drinking heavily since I was 16, essentially since I started posting in DAC. I have never been able to just enjoy a few drinks and during the treatment I went through the lectures on addiction and how it affects that certain piece of the population.
I re-discovered my deep depression from leaving the US behind and the reason for me drinking that feeling away, something to work on, still thinking on marriage and moving, quite a trip that thing called love.

The treatment recommends is to remember to go at it a day at a time, it's useless to make promises.
Sorry about your Ol' man, lot's of people who have failed to keep up the treatments and go to support groups end up going back worse than before and eventually just drink/drug themself to death. I cannot dabble a bit, just does not work for me, it's Hunter S. Thompson or nothing.

I'm not religious but I would consider myself spiritual, I went back to meditating in rehab and even started meditation circles with the people there, got a message that everything went to shit after I left. Back in California I went to a survival/meditation camp, the rehab experience reminded me of that quite a bit so I re-discovered the love for those esoteric things.

That's it. Now my energy levels are returning and I feel the urge to do more things, testosterone and all that jazz.
Still get that depression though but I was sick so had to just do nothing for a week, that was tough.

You're lucky that friends and family care enough to see you well. Keep your head above the water, I know how bad depression can be.

yea i've been depressed a good slice of my adult life as well, think it's endemic to dac really. meditation helps a bit with that too, just chillin with your suffering, making friends with it instead of pushing it away. keep it up brother and don't let the world grind you down, we're all proud of you. がんばれ!

oh yeah did you have those round circle meetings like in the movies where everyone talks about their struggles w/ addiction and if yes, was it helpful talking / hearing others' experiences?

I have a problem in socializing when sober, or to push me into doing social things, not exactly scared of social situations, just find it a chore to do but when done it's usually just good.
Yes there was a circle every morning and evening and we went through what was on our mind at the moment, we also went through our deepest secrets and life stories, so I could say I met the most trustworthy people there, nothing really to hide from one another. I did not say anything about DAC though!
