The Mod To Make your own characters for single p.
Ok where do i get it?
portraits are located at
C:\Your fallout directory\core\gui\char
they should all be *.zar files
to make your own portraits, save them as greyscale 75 X 100 (W X H) pixel png files and convert them to zar using the editor
playing around with portraits is great fun and the editor just makes it really easy

I got them on a CD my friend gave to me. I think they come with v1.27 i think. Look around on the internet and www.nma-fallout.com and you might find it if its not on the 1.27 version.

I want to know how to play as something other as human for a change. Instead of human, I want something more interesting, like ghoul or mutant.Do you mean the one to select a different race to play as?
Behold my ignorance and sloth, for I am AMERICAN!

Yep, it sure would. Just click here to see some examples of custom recruit portraits.Lynxer wrote:Would it be possible, technically spoken..to display a mugshot of ur own face for a portrait? that would be...different.
All you have to do is to take a JPG or GIF image, size it to 75x100 pixels (width x height), save it as a PNG image, then use the FoT editor's "Convert PNG to ZAR" function to get the proper format for your portrait.
As for naming, you have three options:
- Use the file name of an extant portrait and replace that file in the core/gui/char directory.
- Use whatever filename you want, and then modify the Display Name of a prefab you're going to use.
- Modify the appropriate file in core/tables to include the file name. That way you could even use your mug in MP, if you wanted to and it doesn't desynch the game if your mates don't have the same portrait selections.

To OTB:
Thanks for your comment.
Edit:
It doesnt seem to work however. After having converted my 75X100 png file to zar with the editor i replaced it for a .zar file present in the gui/char folder called "CORE_rec_HM (human male presumably) 04.zar
I didnt notice any obvious changes while browsing the portraits so guessed it might have been the wrong file i had switched.
I did the same to "CORE_mis26_mike.zar assuming that it was related to the portrait of mike who is among the recruits you can choose from when starting a new campaign.
this however...didnt resolve my troubles.
Appart from the CORE_rec and CORE_mis files non of the files listed in the folder seem likely to be the right ones, judging from their names.
Have you got any suggestions?

Lynxer: CORE_REC_HM04 - yes, the "HM" stands for "Human Male" - isn't available at the beginning of the campaign. That's Stein who doesn't become available usually until just before Mission 4. So that could be the problem.
Also, there is no one named Mike associated w/Mission 26. Did you mean Mission 16? If so, that's not a recruit, but rather the grumpy fellow who lambasts you for being part of the BoS, who sent his sister to a labor camp.
