Yeah... I've noticed some of the problems... but I think that the geometry is still the same even if the interface isn't... and quite a few of the settings still work... I think one of the major changes was the GUI.

Well, techincally, you can take the four layers and do whatever the heck you want with it...Flamescreen wrote:To Red: I think skin should include the part of face that isn't hair also.
Thhe idea is that when you apply a colour to a layer it changes the entire layer... They named it acording to what made sense and that's what sticks, but you could make a main layer, one for the pants, and one for the shirt if you felt like it, and stick a feather in the guy's hat and have the team colour be the feather colour... So if you actually use the "skin layer" for skin, it's rather obvious you'll need to put all visible skin in that layer - although it might not have been obvious in my original post...
The only real restriction you have to keep in mind is that the team colour can often be changed by the end user - though it might not even be a relevant thing in a SP campaign/mission.
...
It's a good start. Go and check the modelling thread for some more info on how to get your render on.

Only a real artist knows the actual anatomy of the terrible, or the physiology of fear - the exact sort of lines and proportions that connect up with latent instincts or heriditary memories of fright, and the proper colour contrasts and lighting effects to stir the dormant sense of strangeness.

EdtheMonkey its coming along great but I have three questions if you dont mind?
1.) I know your early in development with this medal armour but how long do you predict it will take until your finished?
2.) I remmember you mentioning in another post you were going to work on other armours like PA, and leather armour are those yet in the works or are you going to do them one by one?
3.) Last I remmember you said you were working on a gatling gun is that going to be released or is that just for you?
THANKS!

great looking.
when your mod comes out (it is a mod, right?)
ill re-install FOT and play it.
oh, not to be mean or anything, i just suggest tilting the spikes out a little, and shortenning them a tad. and then making the shoulder plates a little thinner... not as flaired out. only minor adjustments that are not necissary, just my opinion
cool model too

acutally... there's a mod I'm planning on using it for, in fact, it's the reason I started building the model. But, I plan on releasing the sprite as soon as it's completed. Thanx for the suggestion strapon, but as far as the armor goes.... i might make a new version later, but i like the way that is... I've decided no more, next step is animation... maybe I'll re-map it so it looks ok in close up. Right now I'm kind of taking a break and trying to render some game art using the minigun and the model. I'd really like to have something that's good enoungh for close up work, but I don't know that I'll end up getting it.
*edit* after looking at it again... i think you may be right about the spikes.... *edit*
goo-
1) 2006 is my revised estimate... essentially, don't hold your breath or expect it soon. If you expect it in 2006 there's a 50/50 chance you'll be plesantly surprized...
2) I started working on combat armor, and was almost to the point of being happy with the chestplate and some of the structures when it completely crashed and I lost almost everything. I described that in an earlier post, you might be able to find it if you care..hehe. I started working on a new vehicle, but I only finished the touret before moving on to metal armor. PA is last on my list, even though I know you all want it... I'm kinda hoping someone tallented will take that one and save me a big pain in the ass. The next one I work on is the Vault Dweller for flamescreen, however that may have to wait, as the animation of the metal armor may have to wait, until the end of this semester. School, and work seem to always get in the way of important things like this..hehehe.
3) I'm working on the minigun model so that any other modellers may use it... it is an attempt to copy the one the game designers used, so it looks like a bunch of barrels sticking out of a shoe-box... I may create a diffrent one and model with that instead, but I'm not trying so much right now to create things that stand out, as things that are hard to discern from the normal sprites. The more like the BOS sprites, the more easily they'll blend and the more happy i'll be.
I want things that look like they belong in the game, even when they're things that don't.

From memory he's got a combat armour and a T-51b fully modelled in Rhino.
