New version of Laser Squad Nemesis for download

Well, it's not Fallout news... but fuck it, it's pretty quiet on the post-apocalyptic front, and a bit of free turn-based gaming never goes astray.

There's a new version of <a href="http://www.lasersquadnemesis.com/" target="_blank">Laser Squad Nemesis</a> out! What's Laser Squad Nemesis, you ask? Tsk tsk. Well, OK:<blockquote>LSN is a unique and innovative game that recreates the excitement of real-time tactical combat with a turn based system. Game data is exchanged via email, and challenging somebody to a game is as simple as entering their email address and hitting the 'send challenge' button.</blockquote>This new version of LSN is looking quite tidy... in addition to the third race... the funky looking Spawn, there's also a busload of new fixes. Well, ok, not a busload... well... ahh bloody hell, see for yourself:<blockquote>1. FIXED Most, hopefully all, the crashing bugs

2. IMPROVED movement with lots of goo around. Should be less slowdowns. Orders to move out of goo will register.

3. FIXED If you watch results, give orders and then watch results again the beta client crashes

4. FIXED Opportunity fire button should have the same effect as the normal fire button as far as Spawn close combat is concerned.

5. FIXED Rules of Engagement should activate in test orders.

6. FIXED Buzzers can fly or sit over drones

7. FIXED Drones have some difficulty in narrow military corridors because they are blocked by the military corner walls.

8. FIXED Queen attack animation does not seem right.

9. FIXED Buzzers flap their wings when stationary

10. FIXED 'halt on sighting' causing units to halt but not pursue/fire.

Laser Squad Nemesis caused my brother a lot of disappointment. He's not all that web literate, but found the site somehow. He thought it was actually a fully-fledged computer game. About a year ago he was on at me to go check out this "new X-COM game" and sign up for the beta. He was so disappointed when I told him it was a PBEM. Hmm ... so was I, come to think of it.

Yeah, me too. I'm hoping they'll eventally make a single player game out of it.

They are making a single player version of it. But that's still in develpoment. The closest you can get is with hotseating at the moment. I keep my eye on advancements concerning Laser Squad, I like that game.

I know this sounds incredibly dumb, but when I follow the second tutorial I always get killed.
