i downloaded a mapper, but i cant figure out how to get to a .map file. can anyone help?

OOOhh, oops, I thought he meant the mapper didn't work, my bad. Sorry. Personally I use the good old DOS version to extract stuff from FO1. Once you get used to it it's much better then the GUI'd versions (well, unless you want to extract everything, the "dos box" version seems slower).

wait a sec... when i try to open a map, it comes up with a box "Abnormal program termination". what does this mean and how can i fix it?

Tell more in detail as it occurs.
Version of mapper, that a map you open, Fallout version and mapper configuration...

the mapper Red posted recently (2), any map, 1 (not patched), haven't done anything (except set it to the right directory), windows

Um dude, I didn't post any mapper, Dims did. And there's supposed to be a version (ie .96a or .96b) since he released both.
As for Windows, is it 95,98,98se, ME OR Windows NT4, WIndows 2000, or Windows XP?
Now by the looks of your answer, you're probably on Windows 9x/ME, and the mapper doesn't work on 9x/ME...

EDIT: on second thought, what do you set the "Local Data Location" box to?
