<best drill sargent voice> Private, you just volunteered to scout out the minefield!

But really, you can get both of them for $9.99. Might as well try.

They'll work. You will have to read the faq on the fallout 1 official site to see how to install it. Fallout 2 should work right away.

But the catch is, that there aren't many ( propably <10 ) software products in the world that run on XP - without any problems - :?

And that's why I am seriously thinking about switching to Linux...

Linux + Windows Emulator + Some more MBs of RAM = No problems at all!

Yeah

I am running both perfectly, well almost perfectly. A few video glitches but nothing major or that affects gameplay.

Heck the Fallout 1 installer even worked for me without setting compatibility. Just run _setup.exe.

It was the same for me.

They are actually about the only two games that will work on my system.

FO2 will definatly work...

wheres the FAQ for FO1 install?

cause ive got win2k, and it has NTFS and FO1 didnt install, only my old FAT32 drive, but still there it had problems

cause i had like 2 gigs availible on the old drive, but in the installer, it said i only had 24 megs, so i had to do the super tiny install, like 16mb

but i dont have that hard drive anymore...sooo

Fallout1 has some sound glitches with WinXP. Specifically parts where there should be a voice over... like when you die or at the end game screens.

Maybe it is jusy my box doing these glitches?

I didn't have those problems with my puter. I suggest you install a patch for both Fallout and XP, although I think it's not a XP problem. What is your sound card? Try instaling new drivers.

I have the new 1.1 that they have preinstalled with on the new dual jewel sale thing. However, I think I noticed the same thing happening with my old F2. I think it might be a system error of mine... I have a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz which has worked perfectly and the drivers are new and ish.

Funny, cuze these are the only things wrong with the game. I was just making sure that it was not a Fallout-side error because I gave the game to a friend who has never played it before, and I am sure she would want to see the endings

I had trouble with F2 on XP -- ending cutscenes were cut short. Big bummer, since that's why I spent hours and hours running all over the desert, helping this guy, killing that guy. It was the last straw!

Now I'm back to Win98. No XP, no cry.

That's the exact problem I have had. Kind of blows, especially when the rest of the game runs fine.

I´m replaying it now (under WinXp home). So far, I haven´t had any gameplay/installation problems, but I haven´t finished it yet, so I don´t know if I´ll be able to see the ending cutscenes

Did anyone find out a solution to the WinXP/2K sound glitches at the end of the game? My girlfriend is playing F01 now and I really want her to be rewarded with the end game's voice overs! She's on a 2K box...
