Planet of Muties

Post by Davide »

I was thinking about a fallout 3 using some planet of apes concept

Before the war , China and USA were waging a cold war , the need of fuel sources leaded them to a space race , thousand of spaceships where sended to the space to look for fuel , ( they where fusion powered ) , two of them the Gold eagle ( USA ) and the Red Rider ( China ) where sended to find life in others planet , a real race for power

You are the starwalker the chosed to be the golden eagle kozmonaut

You was in a cryogenic sleep when after milions years you finly arrive to planet whit life ....

Its seems a great large wasteland full of muties and a degenerated race like mankind ....

This world was recovering from a nuclear war and was lawless ....

After many adventures and background stories , you find yourself against some crazy religion followers controled by a freak ancient mutation named the "vault dweller" ....

He wants to kill all the mankind exterminated whit a powerfull weapon and only some few chosed ones to survive in a large vault of number 13 ...

After defeat / convince him , he ( or the computer if you just kill the freak ) gives you a map .

You go to the map "X" and find the burned ruins of BIS .

You was in the earth all the time ....

THE END !

Ok , its only the main idea , what you think ?

But wasnt the whole point of FO1 is that you are saving an inferior race?
If you remove any radiation, the FEV vrius was proven to greatly expand any intellect. Any.
All you needed to do was fix sterility.
Also, copyright issues, Iam guessing.

Heheh, quite humorous

But it's a bit too obvious rip-off from the Planet Of The Apes :?

and grammar that makes your eyes want to slope off someplace else. (yeah i know this is the internet and its expected to a certain degree, but some attempt should be made to make sure it reads well.

1: USA use astronauts, russia use cosmonauts
2: the wastelands are set a few hundred years after the great war, not millions (if he believes its millions, thats fine)
3: it may be a wasteland but there would be enough pre-war culture remaining for him to guess (nuka cola, the weapons, car wrecks)

quite like the notion of the main character being held in cryo, means there could be a small pre-war section.

interesting notion of the Vault Dweller mutating (could be the reason why he just upped and left the village) as he could have been exposed to small ammounts of fev when the vats exploded.

The singel greatest idea ever proposed on the D&NC Forum.
This explains everything.

According to the biology, the genetical changes are hereditary. If so The Chosen one would be ehmm.. muti ?

the president at the enclave talked about some genetical changes on the arroyo people remember ? maybe this not was only because of the radiation in the wastes ..... and by other way the vault dweller maybe was infected in a quest after leaving arroyo !

People living in the wasteland had gotten a dose of the background radiation, which is nothing really too serious. The Enclave plan was to wipe out everything 'unpure' from the face of earth, no matter how radiated they were. The 'genetical changes' President refers to were only slight mutations on people, hardly noticeable. Ghouls are a bit different. I doubt the FEV from the oil rig caused any serious mutations, it affected San Fran and the nearest coastline to some limit though, but nothing to its inhabitants(end slideshow, mutated flowers/plants?).

Those flowers were a secret project the Shi were working on. A type of plant that thrives on radiation instead of dying from it. They thus intended to restore vegetation to the wasteland.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

i really dont think that the hero of fo1 would have ever mutated because all throughtout the the intro to fo2 and its manaul it say they turned him back because he had been changed by the outside world. This meaning he was too changed by the events he went through thus making him ruthless , an experinced killer and with less morals than the standard vault occupant(no matter how good your karma is). Please excuse me if this offends anyone on these forums including the other hardcore fans of fallout 2.

hmmm, i though the overseer kicked the VD out because his stories of the wastes would have made more people want to leave the vault, i'm pretty sure thats the reason it gives at the end of FO1

Partially that, and perhaps he felt insecure about his position in the Vault after the VD returned.
The Vault Dweller had seen and experienced much during his journeys, getting rid of the Overseer and taking leadership in the vault would have been no problem. At least for my corrupted, perverted and sick character/s.
