Union of Atomic Workers

Post by OnTheBounce »

For those of you who have poked around The Hub and talked to Jake a bit about his background, you might be curious to know what the "Union of Atomic Workers" is that he says he was a part of. I emailed MCA a while back about it and he got back w/me last night after having gotten an answer from:
Scott Bennie wrote:I did Jake, though someone probably rewrote the dialogue, since the tenor is terser than Benniespeak. :-) I figured that for every successful organization that made it in the Wasteland, there'd be ten that failed, and so I came up with some organization for Jake that explained where he got his weapons that wasn't "I used to be in the Brotherhood"... it's a throwaway bit intended to make the world a little messier; it's more believable if everything doesn't tie together neatly. Hope this helps.
Jake also mentions that "the mutants wiped them out about ten years ago."

Cheers,

OTB

I was wondering about them. I noticed that dialog thread on my last, aborted playthrough of Fallout 1 and wondered.

Yeah, I remember that dialogue but I didn´t pay much attention to it. All I wanted from the man was his cash and his guns!

Nope. The guy who designed that section of the Hub (and thus, that character) said that he just figured that there would be a lot of failed organisations for every one that made it. In fact, OTB's post says just that.
