There's an interesting new thread at the Trash forums dealing with graphics - well, I found it interesting. A young man by the name of elDiablo0258 expressed his doubts about the graphics of the game:

<img src="http://www.duckandcover.net/news/trash. ... a>

ok, well (and no offense is meant here), the units dont look that special... the detail doesnt look immensely lush on them does it? i know this could be for a few reasons:
1) it could be that this uses less bandwidth, so is easier on lower end internet connection (if i'm worng, please tell me... i aint a coder afterall)
2) this is the pre-beta, and so it isnt final. and hopefully it'll get a lot better in the final product.
3) the fact that there are gonna be hundreds of units on the screen/map at once means that it is less taxing on computer systems
i'm not saying that the graphics are bad, they look good, just nothing special. shot me if you hate this, but i was just comparing the units to that of things like "Emperor: Battle for dune" i was just curious as to are you gonna change the units? i can live wiv them but it might not appeal to all game-buyer
Resident question-answerer and star designer of Trash, Conan Curie, had this to say about the query:
The graphics really has no effect on network usage. It can tax the CPU if there are lots of units on screen. We are working on improving frame rate for these cases.
Some of the graphics in our screen shots is “dev art, that is, place holder art put in by a programmer. We are slowly replacing all the dev art with art done by one of our artist.
Graphics are important to us and we will be constantly improving the graphicseven after the beta has started.
Oooh. Read it all for yourself here.
Are Trash's graphics trashy?

Makes me glad God gave me sub-standard eyeballs. I can't remember the last time I saw graphics for a professional game and thought they were shit.
I think I'm still impressed by any kind of decent graphics, because out of the (however many) years I've been playing computer games, the majority of it was spent looking at games made with less than 16 bit colour depth.
