Our buddy VasikkA dropped us a line to tell us something quite encouraging... something I wasn't entirely sure was going to happen again... The Wastes have updated their website with some new screens and information! Hurray etc! Opening paragraph:
Ahh, I see I almost surpassed the 2 month timespan between news posts. Alot of work has been going on. VGUI is nearing completion, and alot of the spectator code is being worked on and tweaked out. I will try to put in the 2.3 SDK code for spectators (I'm fairly sure its the same coolass spectator code that CS and DoD use for spectating matches) sometime soon.
Good, good. Along with a bit more info, there's also... new screenshots! They're looking might fine too, might I add. Check this couple out from the upcoming map, tw_ramshackle:

<img src="http://www.duckandcover.net/news/ramsha ... uote>Looks tasty. Cheers VasikkA!

Seriously, though. The mod looks great, but Half Life had its time in the sun. The game never was that good to begin with. When The Wastes is finally released it'll either have a fraction of the promised features all the way back from Beta 1, or nobody will care. Maybe both.
At least I still have Devastation to wait for, which has a solid release date, great engine, and a confident dev team.
