Post by Saint_Proverbius »

<strong>[Mod -> Update]</strong>

<a href="http://www.hot.ee/fallout/">TeamX</a> has released <a href="http://www.hot.ee/fallout/mapper2.zip">Mapper 0.97b</a>, which is their map editor for <a href="http://www.interplay.com/fallout">Fallout</a> and <a href="http://www.interplay.com/fallout2">Fallout 2</a>. You can see screenshots of it <a href="http://www.hot.ee/fallout/mapper2.jpg">here</a> and <a href="http://www.hot.ee/fallout/mapper.jpg">here</a>. Here's a list of the changes:

<blockquote>* Changed border of selected objects.

* Selection floor and roofs, fill selected region.

* Show drawing object.

* Show direction of object.

* Some errors fixed.</blockquote>

Thanks, <strong>Ausir</strong>, of that wierd <a href="http://fallout.scifi.pl/index_eng.php">Polish Fallout site thing</a>.

I have been interested in this program for a while. Can you actually make new maps or edit existing ones with this tool?(e.g-I feel like putting more people in the Hub. Can I do this?)
Valdis = Barfly = HackerZero = Shadow = 0wn3d.

Looks like you can edit them fine, but making new ones, I'm not sure about.

This one is ready for real modding! No more guessing where the tiles'll be, and the bugs with bigger maps are done with!

As far as I know evceyrhitng's in there, though they're right you can't start from scratch. I suggest just using one of the random event maps as a starting point though.

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head that is missing is that you still can't change which script is associated with the map from within the editor as far as I can tell.

Yeah, that and the number of levels the map contains and possibly the number of variables in the map (I think there's a byte describing that...)

For the script association it's pretty to do it by hand with a hex editor. For the levels you just start mapping from a map with the appropriate number of levels and if the variables are jsut desscribed with the text file then it's not a problem. But having all that (and possibly a "New map" option would be great.

I don't even know if it's possible to edit items and weapons with the editor, mainly because I can't find a way. Anyone?

Maybe because Mapper is a map editor?

Lasse is right- You can place items on a map or object, but you can't edit them. To edit the properties of items, you'll need to edit the .pro files using either a utility such as FIC/FIME or hex editing. There should be more info here about using FIC (Although note that last I heard, it isn't being updated anymore.) or info on the .pro file from here if you want to edit the files manually.
