The country of ireland has always has its troubles, Since the dark ages, roving bands of norse marauders would rape, pillage and plunder the coastal communites.After that in the sixteen and seventeen hundreds, bristish colonists settled to eradicate wealthy irish land owners in a more civil approach.
Of course in a country were people are treated unjustly, people get pissed off. they bicker and they argue with each other until they find someone who can lead them, to right the wrongs. This is common knowledge. Since the formation of the irish republican brotherhood (IRB), to the reformation of the IRB to the Irish Republican Army or IRA for short, took back three quarters of the country in 1922 which spilt the country in two and caused a civil war there have been the troubles. With the end of the civil war and the country somewhat at rest, The IRA had become something of a legend to some and nightmare for others.
the 1960's brought trouble to the one province that had not succumbed to the Irish rebellion. For the north was the single largest british colony in ireland which was spilt again in two, by religion this time. Protestant and Catholic. these areas would fight bitterly at the least thing. Such was life in the North. By this time the IRA had become an illegal organisation. The IRA would then wage a twenty-five year war on Britain and British people, in particular British government and law.
During the mid-ninties a Ceasefire was called by the leaders of the IRA and Due to this, the IRA splintered and different factions were formed. Small terrorist cells.
Shortly after 2004, the guns, semtex, nailbombs, pipebombs and all other terrorist paraphenalia fell silent while Britain declared the North of ireland, "Irish" and no longer under british rule. This did not go down well with the loyalist areas of the north. Subsequently the loyalists rebelled against both irish and english governments until there was an intervention by America.
America; waging wars on terrorist organisations on many fronts, had succumbed to the shouts of its voters, to be fair and fight all terrorist activity worldwide, wether it was financially viable or not. World leaders in the UN had taken the action of american forces in ireland very seriously and had arranged a vote to dedicate funds for this worldwide war on terror.
By the year 2018, America was policing earth. A congressional commitee was set up with members from each country in the UN nicknamed Emu on account of the area were the headquarters were based was an emu preserve.
America had almost eradicated terrorism, when a paramilitary organisation called "Omega" appeared, although they seemed non-threatening at first, the developed from pirate radio stations opposing the restrictions that the american occupying forces had set for many countries. They progressed onto adverts on television, and public access broadcasts almost twentyfour hours a day in some countries. Although they were not based in any particular country, they seemed strongest in the EU.
2021 seen the first attack by Omega. By this time they had gained enough strenght to actually wage a war against smaller nations. the first attack was swift and sudden agaisnt a small city in the african country of Sudan. there were no troops sent in, it was merely a demonstration. The demands were simple. "Stay on American soil". at the same time two american supercarriers were in manuevers in the pacific when a fleet of small one-man submarines planted limpet mines throughout the hull. Both Ships were Scuttled. Americans everywere were shocked that such a thing could happen, and how. Reprisals were quick and ruthless. the pirate radio stations onlt broadcasted static as did the TV stations.
Omega was quiet for the next couple of months apparently fearing any more reprisals. Of course America had sent in its finest CIA operatives to uncover who was the leader of this organisation, but to no avail. Anyone that knew anything didnt "spill their guts" under either interrogation or threat of execution.
2024, December 23rd at 6am Omega resistance (OR) as it was now known, resurfaced.
All US embassys across europe had been surrounded and occupied by men in black kevlar armour and balaclavas. This time they had threatened to detonate nuclear warheads all across europe, in every capital, unless the US pulled out by Christmas day. The US responded by sending in crack troops to eliminate the threat. Fortunetly for the OR, mass hysteria and panic had forced the largest exodus of people from every capital. every street was jammed full of cars, every highway was a solid wall of vehicles. Airports were crowded to crushpoint, planes had been coming and going since the first broadcast at 6:45am. By the time the US troops got into the cities, they had been almost completely desserted. When a US troop transport helicopter hovered above the US embassy in germany, Berlin seen the first of two blinding white flashes. Not all the embassys were so unlucky.
Most of the OR cells gave up and waved white flags out of the embassy windows.
The EU Army managed to retake the US embassys in Paris, Madrid, Dublin, and London and the Scottish capital of Edinbourough without the US involvement.
captured OR prisioners were taken outside each embassy and executed by US troops. Some were even crucified, others were hung, all died. By Christmas eve, those who hadnt detonated the nukes, had perished at the hands of American men and women.
Reports on the sieges had been broadcasted live around the world. Even the surrender of OR troops, and executions had been filmed and broadcast live. Oddly enough, Sympathy in the EU armys ranks grew for the OR.
2029, The EU, criticly short on fuel supplies demands access to all its oil and natural gas reserves currently in control by the US. The US rejects the demands, but sends small amounts to be used as rations. As a result oil and gas prices skyrocket.
2031, The EU sends another declaration to the US, demanding what is "rightfully" theirs. The US ignores the EU. All EMU members petition the US to "rule Justly". the US president, the first female president, Eva Johnson sees this as treachery and closes all foreign embassys on US soil, and sends more troops and hardware to guard all foreign natural resouces.
July 21st 2031, A state of emergency is declared throughout europe and the middle east. Riots breakout all across europe, there are daily demonstrations opposing the recent US actions. Americans appear to have no say in the matter, but only due to a complete communications blackout approved by the CIA. only internal communications are operable due to power restrictions. Anyone found in violation of this law, is to be executed.
This was the straw that broke the proverbial camels back. Using the last of its fuel, the EU, armed all of its nuclear arsenal, and once more pleaded for reason to president Johnson. the plea falls on deaf ears. Over one hundred and seventy tactical nukes were launched at american soil at, 12:01am December 21st 2031.
The US responded in with a retaliatory strike instantaniously with almost twice the amount of nukes.
Both continents were swallowed in the atomic maelstrom
