Konami's making a post-apocalyptic game!

Post by Kreegle »

[ -> N/A]

Konami, makers of games like Metal Gear Solid, Contra, Castlevania, Silent Hill and about 100,000 others, have turned their sights to post-apocalyptic fun!

Apocalyptica is the name of the game - the rest of the details are a bit hard to make out due to this story originally coming from a German site, but we'll let Translat-or: The angry crack-fiend robot take a stab at converting the description anyway:
The name of the second special PC-development reads Apocalyptica which sets clearly on Action. Scene is a world in the future in which the earth in debris and ash lies. In this scenario, the player fights himself through an entire row of arenas, in which it goes on life and death either against the CPUS or human opponents. The players have access on a multitude at equipment objects. Only who the high speed weapons with cunning and skill inserts, has a chance in the following fights out of the 3rd-Person-Perspektive to overcome the increasingly stronger opponents. At the same time come both projectile stories and hand fire-weapons and magic to the insert. The result in 'Apocalyptica' thrilling battles are and melee - and an atmosphere that takes perfectly caught the player already after few minutes
Thanks Translat-or. We'll have to keep our eye on this one, methinks. Spotted at Evil Avatar

Arenas? Does that mean this is a fighting game. That would be highly gay.

gamesweb.com/OTB wrote:Apocalyptica is the title of the second PC-specific development, which is action-oriented. It takes places in a futuristic Earth that has been reduced to ashes. In this milieu the player fights life-and-death battles in a number of various locales against either AI- or human-controlled enemies. The players have access to a great variety of equipment. Only players who employ high velocity weapons with celerity and guile stands a chance of defeating the progressively more powerful enemies in these battles, which are shown in a 3rd-Person perspective. In the course of these battles, ranged and melee weapons as well as magic will be employed. The result in Apocalyptica are gripping battles and melees -- and an atmosphere that captures the player after even only a few minutes.
I don't think the use of "Arenen" ("arenas") indicates an arena-based TP fighter-game. It seems to be used in the sense of "location/milieu".

No, "magic" is not an error in the x-lation. "Magie" is magecraft/sorcery/etc., not any other sense of the English word "magic".

Let me guess. AFTA THA GWEAT MAGIKAL WAWS OF THA SAMUWI GIANTS THA WERLD WAS DESTROYED BY ARCANA FORCES! BUT A POWEWFUW WOWWIEW GOD PWOMISED THAT THEY WOULD BE A CHOSEN ONE TO FIGHT THA EVIL DEMON KING WULING OVER APOCALYPTICATO!

The 'arenas' doesn't exactly a fighting game. UT had arenas. I think it will be more of a square-ish area with a bunch of platforms, power-ups and traps with a few enemys running around to. Like super-smash bros with rpg elements, crappy elements, anime elements all set in a apocalypsic place mebbe.
