Does Cattle Prod considered as a melee or energy weapon ?
I have 70% on melee and 10% on energy weps and i get quite bad hitting chance with the prod. about 60% to hit. why is that ?

The cattle prod, as well as other melee weapons that use energy ammo like the ripper, uses the melee skill.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

and that 60% hit is about what you can expect with a skill of 70%...

Well, of course. It's just that melee weapons that use energy ammo use the melee skill because it would be grossly unfair to make players specialise in two skills to use one kind of weapon.

Well then what's the deal with my 98% melee skill and only having a 54% chance to hit with my spiked knuckles in broad daylight?

Spiked knuckles use unarmed since you're effectively punching when using them.
