Devastation interview

Not only is Devastation one of the nicest looking upcoming games around, it's also post-apocalyptic! Hurrah. VE3D have conducted an interview with Vic DeLeon, top-dog at Arush Entertainment, who just happen to be the geezers making the game. Here's a teensy snippet of some of the fun:
Why was a post-apocalyptic setting chosen for Devastation, and what influenced the game’s plot?

The storyline and design doc painted a very bleak and messed up picture of the future. It’s a vision that was in and of itself a key part of the story, caused by events in the story, and a catalyst for the events which occur in it as well. Simply put, it wouldn’t have worked in any other way; the setting necessitates the story and vice-versa.

The plot is a completely original concoction pulled and penned from our collective psyches. All of us here share having been milk fed on pulp sci-fi, hardcore cyberpunk literature, and a healthy dose of Cold War 1980’s doomsday-paranoia: common if you grew up waayyy back in those days. On top of all this, it was landmark films like Blade Runner, The Terminator, and Mad Max that messed with our heads, influenced this storyline, and put our therapists’ kids through college.

<img src="http://www.duckandcover.net/news/urbias ... kquote>Mmm, so tasty... I want. Read more about it here.

This is one of the very few games I'm looking forward to buying at release. Passed up on the UT2003 hype.

Yea, I didn't go for the UT2k3 hype either. Unfortunately, I am afraid I am going to have to go for this game.

It looks like a few CS kiddies snuck some AWPs into the game. I hope they catch those before it goes gold.

Why do so many people immediately jump onto the "It was stolen from CS!" bandwagon when they see a gun that happens to be in both games? Dude, it's a REAL gun. Does that mean every single game that has a pump shotgun is stealing from Doom? Gimme a god damn break. Or every game that has an M16 is stealing from Rainbow Six. Fuck.

Yes, folks, Max himself has aptly demonstrated his lack of humor.

It's hard to tell when you don't use any smilies, dammit :P

And I hear that same shit on a daily basis from people who hate CS a little too much. Check any post at The Wastes forum.

You shouldn't need to spend $700 to make the game playable. Assuming you can put a computer together or know someone who can, it shouldn't require more than a $3-400 upgrade.
