Fan-made fallout v. Blackisle+interplay fallout
After reading a bunch of threads in 'In the News...' and the bis boards...
Wich would you prefer? A fan-made fallout or one made a game company like blackisle?
The Pros of a fan-made fallout would be we wouldn't be screwed around, feedback everyone reads, helpful updates, it would resemble fallout (unlike fot) and generally be a pretty good fallout experience. Everyone here has more or less the same vision (80+ years after fallout 2, set in the general area of california (possibly more north), 8 or so towns...)
The cons would be the graphics wouldnt be much (Not many of us are 3d moddellers and the current fallout editor resources are scarce), copyrighting, would take ages and if everyone did a little bit of it you'd probably end up with the fo2 collage of easter eggs and personal touches.
The pros of a game company making it would be it could include new sounds, graphics etc. The fans would be suprised at the end, might include tools, KEWAL concept art and HILARIPOUS behind-the-scenes shit that's always fun to look at afterwards and all the other stuff.
The cons would be they would probably screw it up badly (looking at fot), we WOULD be screwed around for ages until we get it (if ever) and we might not get another sequel afterwards.
Thoughts?

The only way Fallout 3 can be made satisfactorily is by a professional game developer. Any fan-made game would fail miserably when everyone realises that they have no fucking idea what they're doing. The only real hope for a good FO3 is for a real company with talented people and a good vision of the setting to do the game.

i dont know bout that, i would like to see a fair few more towns then that, keeping the same engines as the originals would be the best move, maybe if we could backward engineer FO2, then remake FO2 maps, have people dedicated to storyline , art, and so forth, and only after everyone agrees on storyline is it final, ummmm, yes, if all skills can be used evenly, lots of battle, speech and missions, and heck maybe more things to do, i dunno maybe it could work from a fan-based setup...
another company picking it up is implausible at the moment, interplay are definately not going to touch it with a 50ft pole, and i doubt troika would spend that much cash to obtain the liscensing to make it, they wouldnt make a profit back on it, same with most other gaming companies, why buy the lisense when they can make a L33t online game which every supid ass kiddy with AOL will buy and so forth.... its just not plausible.....

Hey but if we make Fo3 then what will be the fun playing it?
What will be the fun playing the game that we know everything about just at the start.
Nah.. i prefer Fo3 made by specs.
guess what i voted

I like BIG guns...
I would want to see FO3 made by a real gaming company.
Because only fan-made projects that work include people who work in gaming firms 8O Just like Natural Selection-mod for Half-Life: they have two professional graphic artists and [add a number] of hard core programmers, who've been working for years.
