Interview with the Day Of The Reckoning Folks
[ -> N/A]
PC-Gaming.com has interviewed the confused folks working on that Fallout Day Of The Reckoning mod. That mod for the game Breed (which looks a lot like Halo) who's site can be found over here.
This interview is a lot of fun, let's start with some choice cuts here.

Hi, could you just introduce yourself and tell us a bit about the team working on Fallout: The Day of Reckoning and what you all do?

Well, the FTDOR crew and myself (hornet) are a bunch of guys who thought “Hey, wouldn’t it be cool if we could have Fallout First person?

Oh my god, they came from the black isle forums!

Where is the game set and what time period?

It is set in the Fallout universe. For those of you who don’t know, Fallout is a RPG set in the foreseeable future, after a nuclear apocalypse that has had the effect of pretty much turning the entire world into a radioactive wasteland.

Wrong chuckleheads, Fallout is set in an ALTERNATE universe. Or did you miss all the vacuum tubes?

There are at lest 4 distinct races: the Robots, Humans in there various varieties, (Brotherhood, Villagers, Reavers, Beast Lords, Bandits, more…) Ghouls (humans that have been heavily mutated by the radiation) Super Mutants (Genetically engineered super soldiers, but there sterile) and a few others I no doubt forgot…

So given this last statement (Reavers and Beast Lords) we're to make the conclusion that this mod was indeed inspired by Fallout Tactics. OH JOY!

How does the story start out on F:TDoR? Where is the game set? What’s the game objective?
It starts out with the player and his brother leaving there home village to go to the brotherhood for supplies. To say anymore would be to spoil the storyline

Apparently in this incarnation of the Fallout universe The Brotherhood no longer has working caravans. Read the rest of the interview over here.

Woah dudes sounds like the 3d oddly-high-powered-laser-gun-first-person-fallout-mod that we've all been waiting for is here!
At least they know their fallout!
The forums are here if you want to read there zany ideas

if anyone has played Fallout, one would know there is an assortment of various types of cars in there.
Anyways, now to the "interactive" part of the colomn. Post five to ten top songs you'd like to hear in the game (of course including the name of the band).
My list:
Clown - KoRn
Faget - KoRn
My bad side - Papa Roach
Spiders - System of a Down
Part of me - Hybrid Theory
Immortal - Adema
Smells like teen spirit - Nirvana
Rammstein - Rammstein
Run on - Moby
Baby's got a temper - Prodigy
and they're adding real-world weapons to! Sounds like a cool mod.Okey, heres a easy one folks. I want someone to model a box, and i want someone to do a skin for it with red edges and a big red + on the top. thats going to be the med kit.

I hate it when people start mod projects before a game is even released. Stupid STUPID UT2003 inspired mindless drones.
Isn't this whole thing copyright infringement anyway? If they actually make more than a gun or something Black Isle or Interplay or whoever likes to waste the most time (at this point it's really hard to tell) will step in and shut it down.

Cool beans
Does interplay or blackisle know about this mod yet?
we are willing to drop the verry large armies of hatred for you we all havem but it will take time, trust needs to be earnt, not demanded.
there is plenty of hatred for you going around inside me right now megatron
Armys of hate, eh? I'm thinking of carrying on pretending to be the victim or just spamming the boards.okey, maybe not, i appoligize, we will not inculde a level dedicated to giving you as much cr*p as you have given us, but i am tired, and I needed to vent my anger somehow. We do hate you, sorry megatron, that is a fact I cannot deny, but we can get over it if you are willing to get over your apparent hatred for us.

Holy FUCK! These kids are a new brand of retarded to the likes I've not witnessed before. Screw #blackisle and the BIS forums, these morons have set a record.
Drooling prepubescant cattle...
Edit: I just found the most hilarious post, ever. Essentially, one of the main modders posts something to the effect of "Please help us if you can, because we have no fucking clue. Seriously."
Okay, I take that back. They aren't complete imbeciles. They at least admit they are going for flashy bullshit and name-dropping (MP3 players, modern cars, etc.), and that they really don't have a clue elsewise.
- No clue about continuity
- No clue about the setting
- Name-dropping for the hell of it
- "All I hope is, is that instead of people seeing all the bad points and little niggles that we still have to iron out, see the big picture, what we are trying to do. 3D is (in my opinion) the next evolutionary step for Fallout. Imagaine a world that you regignise from Fallout, now imagine walking to a destination in 1st peron that you can picture doing in the 2D version, now Imagaine no turn based crap, now Imagine that you were the ones who made this, wouldnt you be happy?"
- Too much more to count, I stopped reading their forums because it was too painful. Let's just say the cumulative clue betwixt them all: 0.
