My idea for the setting

Discuss the game that started it all, and its sequel. Technical questions and issues go into the Fallout Technical Support forum, not here.

Uh...can someone translate this?
The Enclave used the most accurate data knowen to men... The squad saw a rockfall at the cave entrance so they left it...
It doesn't look any better now, does it?

Not in particular, and it's along a "Durr....which way did dey go?" thing. They would have hardly just left it alone if they had equipment, as the vault would have presented a lot of scavenging value.

My imperssoin of the enclave was strong techically advanced but not too smart. This is mostly based on the conversation i had with them through that one computer terminal (in gecko i think) and the dialog lines for those guys. I never assumed you would think that they were smart in any way.

They were an organized and an ambitious group with a lot of the latest technology. They didn't seem to bother about minor nuisances, which explains why they don't send a vertibird squad after you in Gecko, they had bigger plans. That's the impression I got. Ah well, it doesn't matter anymore, they're dead now. :)

No, he was just pissed off talking to some lame tribal somewhere in Gecko. Other than that, he was the standard Enclave-type patriotic fool(not dumb).

Ouch!
Whereas it is pretty lame to begin with (sorry), the rock fall could lead up to having to save the world from some sort of threat. Lets take the Enclave missle-launching version for example. After fighting through all the troopers, you could access their computer and find out about plans of another, larger, enclave base planning to sweep over the wasteland and reclaim what the Posidon base couldn't. And, please don't attack me personally for this idea, i'm simply trying to improve on an already bad concept.
