A perk question

Post by Haethurn »

I've been browsing through the perks list, and I noticed that there are two perks, Medic and Mr. Fixit, that say that they give a one-time 20%+ bonus on the doctor/first aid and repair skills, respectively. What I want to know is, what do they mean by one-time? Does that mean that the very next time I use the skill, it will give me the bonus, but after that no bonus is given? If so, why in the world would anyone purchase that perk?

Just means you get an extra 20% in that skill forever but only once.

Do you mean that there is only one level of the perk, hence the 'one-time bonus?'

Another thing. This may sound like a stupid question to you, but keep in mind that it's been a year since I last played this game, and I'm only going to be playing it until my new computer finally arrives (around never, I suspect). I have forgotten some things about the game.

On to the question. My character is lvl 3, and he does not meet the minimum requirements for the perk Healer. If later in the game I gain an extra point in endurance, will I be able to purchase that perk come next third level? I'm thinking the answer is yes, but I'm not sure. I'm 95% certain, though.

I'm guessing the text means you can only get this perk once.

As for healer you're right, however I wouldn't recommend that perk since it's just a skill point bonus and on top of it to perks which don't have much of a use being high(er then ~90).

Healer is not a skill point bonus perk. It adds to the maximum number of hit points that can be healed using the Doctor skill.

To simplify:

One time skill bonuses are an extra X% to a skill. These perk given skill points can be relocated to other, slightly more beneficial skills (Master Thief is great in this respect because it gives something like 60 skill points).

Healer adds to you Doctor skill's heal cap (I guess that's the best term...), and I think there might have been another bonus, although that may have been Anatomy, I'm not sure. I haven't played FO2 in months.

Hm...I think that, for my character, I will purchase all doctor-related perks. You see, I imagine my character to be one of the most knowledgeable doctors in the wastelands, and it's just fitting for him to have all the medical perks.

No they aren't. The number of points they give is static, though you're right about relocating them.

He wasn't claiming that they gave a variable number of points, just allowing that the number of points they give may differ from perk to perk.

It should raise your ep with broken hills since you cleaned the town up.

And that is such a friggin' rip off. 5%.

A 5% bonus for being paid to do something is a ripoff?

And it lowers your rep because you're a crap shoveler.

Yup, lowers your town rep, gains 5% speech, make 500$ in 5 days.

Well worth investment, plus a cool perk entry in the list!
