Of Quartz and Crashing

Post by PaladinHeart »

I tried the Quartz map but for some odd reason it likes to constantly crash FOT to my desktop whenever I do certain things. Like searching a dead body or some other simple thing. FOT crashes a lot like this in single player for me while im roaming around the world map. Anyone know could be stressing out my PC?

If it happens in all user-made maps and the core campaign, I would suggest a re-install and re-patch of FOT.

No. Its hasn't happened to me while testing my own campaign so far. It also didn't happen when I was playing OTB's demo map. Although I could be wrong...

I probably do have a faulty installation. I just can't figure out which file is messed up. Sometimes it happens. Sometimes it don't. For example the first time I killed the super mutant in the Quartz map and tried to search him it crashed.

2nd time it didn't.

Weird..

IIRC the super mutant in Quartz is a standard actor, not an entity made for the map, which leads me to ask in making your campaign are you using the -path option and have set up a new directory for your changes? If not and you've been making changes to entities in the core folder you could be causing the conflicts which are affecting the map.

I know there were a couple inventory entities I created in the the map that were causing some problems even for me. I never did fully resolve the problem. Sorry.

Crashing

Its odd how FOT likes to crash. Perhaps I'll eventually figure out which entity and/or sprite and/or other file is causing the conflicts.

I've always had problems with my FOT though. I wish they hadn't damaged so many of the discs when they were making them :-(
